Discus Thrower

The discus flew in an arc. It sang the song of blood, slicing everything in its path.

I hum along to its deadly tune with my arm outstretched.

The weapon lands in my hand. Icy cold seeps into my fingers. I caress my friend, sister, and mother. How many have you felled for my sake and those I protect?

Many and more, it tells me in a silent whisper.

A true friend.

Never trust a blade lest it turns on you, my master once told me.

A shadow materializes out of the corner of my eye. I throw the discus. It slices air and nothing more.

Impossible!

"Who sent you?" I shout at the phantom.

The song grows nearer.

"Who are you?!"

"Shadow walker. Death", it hisses. "You." It steps into the dim light.

I step back in horror.

A wet sickening sound. Warmth seeps down my neck.

Blood.

I fall.

N/A: Completely different from the first one, right? I decided to make this into a random collection of microfiction. My mind is churning out a lot of ideas lately and had to put it down somewhere.

Still like to write long stories, but time and I aren't the best of friends right now. :( So, this will have to suffice.

If you have suggestions on what theme you'd want to read next, PM me or comment.

I won't always be able to post and reply, but I'll try my best to get back to you as soon as I can. ;)
