"I was tied up, then he injected me with something, I was asleep, next thing I knew we were in Mexico in a house, where I was chained to a wall and stripped down to my bra and underwear."
Hailey was quiet.
"Bryan told the men the amount and that they can do whatever they wanted to me." Charlie was crying. "Everyday I was raped. I couldn't stop him, I was chained to a wall. Everyday I prayed for Jay to come for me."
Hailey spoke. "That sounds horrible."
"It was for four and half months I was raped. Bryan was paid and I was the one who was hurt. Tell me how that makes sense?"
Hailey was quite.
"No I asked a question. Tell me how that makes sense?"
"It's horrible what happened to you. Why did he do it?"
"I've wanted to ask him that for years."
"What do you mean?"
"Grandpa and Dad wouldn't let me see Bryan which is probably a good thing but I never saw him again. Grandpa said Bryan will be visited for the rest of his life."
"What does that mean?"
"Grandpa has friends in Statesville who owe him favors, so he called in all the favors for me. Bryan has been learning what it feels like. What I felt when I was raped."
"And your dad was okay with this?"
"Jay asked Voight what he was going to do. Said Bryan needed to pay."
"That doesn't sound like him."
"Yeah well when the person you promised to protect and care for is hurt and kidnapped you don't exactly care what happens to the person who hurt them."
"After I was released from the hospital, I didn't really sleep, the amount of nights Jay and Erin were up with me, I lost track. Jay needed to sleep, so he asked Chief Boden if I could stay at the firehouse, he said yes, so Jay could sleep. Jay doesn't know I know that. So I stayed for a week, I would go home with Kelly and Matt during off shifts, then I would catch up on all my missing school work."
"That was nice of Chief Boden."
"Yeah it was. At night Kelly always sat with me on the couch watching tv. Sometimes I'd sleep, other times he'd fall asleep. I understood, he needed his sleep."
