Chapter 8

"Uncle-Papa and Aunt Jirou looks good together like Mama and Dada."

I froze and didn't know how to react. I quickly look at Jirou who's looking at me as well. Our eyes met. Nanatili ang mga mata niya sa akin at gano'n din ako. Napalunok ako habang pinagmamasdan siya.

Siya na itong umiwas nang tingin sa akin kaya umiwas na rin ako ng tingin. Devyn sees potential to me with Jirou, she thinks that we're good together. I quickly smiled because of it, we look good together.

"Do we, love?" I asked and ruffled Devyn's hair which made her giggle, she quickly nodded.

"Yes, Uncle-papa!"

Jirou never dared to speak, or went against it which made me smile. She's really adorable and shy about everything.

To break the awkwardness. "Afternoon nap, baby."

Ngumiti naman kaagad si Devyn at dumiretso sa higaan upang mahiga, tumayo na rin si Jirou sa higaan at umupo na lang. Kinuha ko ang remote ng aircon upang buksan ito ngunit hindi malakas.

Pinanood ko lang na matulog si Devyn, pero kung si Warren ang magpapatulog sa kaniya, gusto ni Devyn na kinakantahan siya.

Tiningnan ko if natutulog ba talaga siya, at nang ma-confirm ko ay lumabas na ako ng room at dumiretso sa kusina.

Sumunod naman sa akin si Jirou, may kuryosidad siya sa kung anong gagawin ko, need ko pang maghugas ng plato dahil may mga kinainan sina Devyn at Jirou na need kong hugasan.

Jirou just followed me and stared at me, waiting for something.  She looks at the dirty dishes before looking at me, seeming that she's giving me a signal.

I chuckled because of it. "I can do this, you can sit there like a beautiful queen."

Umawang kaunti ang labi nito na tila nagugulat sa mga sinasabi ko kaya natawa ako sa reaction niya. Kalaunan ay naglakad siya patungo sa mga upuan at naupo ro'n, ngunit pinapanood pa rin niya ako.

"Ah... Luxian, did you eat as well? I haven't seen you eat lunch," she suddenly said which stunned me. Her voice is angelic. It sounds so innocent. Now lang siya ulit nagsalita.

I was so invested in hearing her voice again. I want to hear those voices from her again.

"I didn't," I said, telling the truth. I have to take care of them both. I don't want to lie, not even a time made me lie. No matter what circumstances is, I would never lie.

I find it too hard to even lie to someone, I feel like I'm unfaithful if I lie and like a sin for me. I don't want to see myself lying, I remember my father who always scold us when we lie to him. I do that when I try to cover what Linux does, so end up we got hit by a random things.

I stopped in midway when Jirou spoke again in low voice. "You should eat too... I think there's still food left from the lunch I ate..."

I chuckled and continue doing the dishes before looking at her. Our eyes met again.

She looks like an angel looking at me, her eyes are full of innocence.

I bit my lower lip and I feel like I'm getting tickled in my stomach by just looking at her.

"Should I prepare it for you? It's bad to skipped lunch..." she said to me and stands up but I shaked my head which stops her.

"We can eat together, do you want me to cook something?" I asked because I'm going to make a pizza for Devyn.

Her eyes lit up when I mentioned that I will cook, I think she loves when I cook.

"I'll make burger and pizza, Devyn will love those. Nakatikim ka na ba no'n?" tanong ko kaya napatingin siya sa akin at ngumuso.

Nagpagpag na ako ng kamay sa sink at pinunasan 'yon. When I first met her, I thought that she's an aggressive type of person but right now when I'm looking at her, she looks like an angel.

She slowly shaked her head. "I haven't taste one. But it sounds delicious."

I chuckled, wanting to tease her. "What did you eat in your whole life? Saan ka ba lumaki?"

She pouted, not wanting to answer me. I just let her and get the ingredients from the fridge. Lahat nang kakailanganin ko sa pagluluto ng burger at pizza ay nilabas ko na. Gusto ni Devyn ang magulay na burger at puno ng lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, cucumber and onions to it. Doon lang talaga siya nakain ng gulay. Gusto niya rin may cheese na as in melted.

I think I'll put mozzarella cheese in the pizza, since Devyn likes to pull cheese. Napatingin ako sa fridge at mukhang kakaunti na lang ang mga ingredients at need ko na mag-restock. Mahilig ako magluto, kapag may cravings si Devyn ay ginagawa ko na kaagad kaya siguro naaubos lagi ang laman ng fridge.

Maybe I'll take Jirou and Devyn in the grocery store. Devyn will be happy to see a lot of foods there. Her first time in the grocery store. I'll make sure to capture everything, I'll video Devyn.

"I grow up to be someone that can handle Dionne," Jirou suddenly said in the middle of silence. "Dionne needs someone who's strong as her, someone who could protect her at all times when things starting to get rough. That's why I was made, I was made to be her soldier. I am born to be her soldier."

Natigil ako at napatingin sa kaniya. Maybe that's why she have those innocense on things because she's made to be a soldier for Dionne.

"Instead of playing, I have to hold a gun. Instead of eating all the food from around the world, I have to eat anything that can harm Dionne. I never got to taste the steak before because all they gave to me is vegetables and fruits that can help to make me strong. So when I got to taste the steak, I became addicted to it that I will order it every time..." she said, her voice doesn't sound in pain but I can sense that there's still pain in her heart when telling it to me.

Her voice might be emotionless but I know it's painful for her to grow up in such a heavy responsibility. Does she even experience to be a child? Does she even cry, does she even enjoyed things.

Lumapit ako sa kaniya at hinawakan ang dalawang balikat niya kaya napatingin siya sa akin. Our eyes stared at each others, nagtatanong ang mga mata niya.

"You don't have to worry, I'll cook every delicious meal for you to try and love. You have me to do that, it will make you strong too."
