Diluc and Evan sat across from each other in Diluc's dimly lit office at the Headquarters. The room was a blend of luxury and practicality, with polished wood furniture and walls lined with bookshelves holding both ledgers and ancient tomes. The flickering light from the fireplace cast long shadows, adding a sense of gravity to their meeting. Diluc leaned forward, his intense gaze fixed on Evan, whose silver hair and cold, blue eyes seemed even more enigmatic in the subdued light. The tension from their earlier encounters had somewhat dissipated, replaced by a mutual curiosity. "Why were you stealing so much food and medication from Mondstadt?" Diluc asked, his voice steady but filled with underlying concern.
Evan's expression softened slightly, the coldness in his eyes giving way to a deeper, almost sorrowful emotion. "There's a village, far from here, nestled in the mountains. It's a place that almost no one knows about, a place forgotten by time and progress. The people there are very poor, and many are falling ill. They lack the basic necessities—food, medicine, clean water. I've been taking supplies from Mondstadt to help them survive." Diluc absorbed Evan's words, the initial anger he felt toward the thief dissipating as understanding dawned. The thought of a hidden village suffering in silence struck a chord within him. "You could have asked for help," Diluc said, though he knew the answer even before Evan spoke.
Evan shook his head. " I did, months ago. No one helped, I got dismissed as I was told that Mondstadt has its own struggles. I didn't know what else I could do so... I started to visit Mondstadt at night, trying to gather as many supplied as I could. Sometimes, the only way to help those in need is to strike from the shadows." Diluc nodded slowly, recognizing the difficult choices Evan had faced. He knew the bureaucracy and skepticism of the city well, and he understood why Evan had chosen the path of a thief. But another question lingered in his mind, one that had puzzled him since their last encounter. "I clearly understand your motives now, but there's something else I need to know from you Evan... I've noticed that the chains that were holding you were turned into ice and broken off but when you joined me in the battle, you were able to use the electro powers... How are you able to control elemental powers without a Vision?"
Evan's eyes flickered with a hint of surprise before he sighed, leaning back in his chair. "It's a long story, but the short version is that I was born with this ability. It's not a Vision that grants me my powers, but something inherent. My mother has passed down these abilities to me." Diluc's curiosity deepened. "So, your powers are hereditary? Like a bloodline trait?"
"Something like that," Evan replied. "It's a rare gift I believe, and it comes with its own set of challenges. My mother was an elemental master... or as she was calling her self :
'A supreme reincarnation of the grandmaster of all elements'.
People fear what they don't understand, and wielding elemental powers without a Vision would certainly raise questions—and suspicions. So my mother and I had to live alone into the mountains with no other human in sight."
Diluc considered Evan's words carefully. The existence of such a unique ability was both fascinating and concerning. He understood the many struggles that such individual could face, but he also saw the potential for such powers to be used for good. "And you've been using your powers to help this village?" "Yes," Evan said, his voice firm. "I've been doing what I can, but it's not enough. The needs of the village are growing, and I can't keep up on my own. After all, food and medication in this area is extremely limited... there is not much I can do..." Diluc leaned back, contemplating the situation. The idea of a hidden village in dire need stirred his sense of duty. "We need to find a way to help them more effectively. Stealing from Mondstadt isn't a sustainable solution. Perhaps there's a way to provide aid without compromising the village's safety or drawing too much attention."
Evan looked at Diluc with a mixture of hope and uncertainty. "What do you have in mind?" "We'll need to be discreet," Diluc said, his mind already working through the logistics. "I can allocate resources and arrange for them to be delivered to a location near the village. We'll keep it off the official records to avoid suspicion. And maybe, over time, we can find a more permanent solution."
Evan's expression brightened, a rare smile crossing his lips. "Thank you, Diluc." Diluc shrugged, a faint smile touching his own lips. "Sometimes, the right path isn't always the obvious one. We'll find a way to help them, together."
