Diluc was in his room at night, looking outside from his window. The sky was a canvas of stars, twinkling brilliantly, with the moon casting a silvery glow over the landscape. His mind was racing with a whirlwind of thoughts, responsibilities, and memories. Yet, amidst the chaos of his mind, one thought kept resurfacing—Evan. Evan, with his easy smile and carefree attitude, was a constant enigma to Diluc, a puzzle he couldn't quite solve. Lost in his reverie, Diluc was startled when a voice called out from below, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!" Diluc's eyes widened in surprise as he looked down to see Evan standing beneath his window, grinning up at him.

"Evan, what are you doing outside my window so late at night?" Diluc asked, his voice a mix of curiosity and irritation.

"I wanted to talk to you," Evan replied, his tone earnest.

Diluc sighed, trying to maintain his composure. "You'll have to wait until tomorrow. It's late, and I need to rest." He turned away from the window, intending to dismiss the conversation and head to bed. However, Evan was not one to give up easily. Determined, he began to climb the wall up to Diluc's room. Diluc was just about to lie down on his bed when he heard a noise at the window. Turning around, he was shocked to see Evan pulling himself up and stepping into his room. "How did you get up here?" Diluc exclaimed, incredulous. Evan, slightly out of breath but still grinning, said, "I climbed. I wasn't going to let you brush me off so easily."

Diluc stood up from his bed, walking towards Evan. There was a moment of silence between them, the air thick with unspoken words and emotions. Evan's expression grew serious as he began to speak. "Diluc..., I understand why you're always so closed off. You've told me before about how you've lost so many people. I get it... I really do. When I was younger, I lost my mother you know... I watched her being killed by ...an archon." His voice trembled slightly with the weight of the memory. Diluc felt a pang of sympathy and understanding. The loss and pain that Evan described resonated deeply with his own experiences. Evan took a step closer,  jumping into Diluc's room and standing directly in front of him. The difference in their heights was noticeable, with Evan towering over Diluc. Evan's eyes bore into Diluc's, filled with a mix of emotions, determination, sorrow, and something else Diluc couldn't quite place.

"I wanted to thank you, Diluc," Evan said softly. "For giving me a place in Mondstadt, for accepting me even if I was causing harm in your city..."

As Evan spoke, he placed a hand on Diluc's shoulder. The touch sent a shiver down Diluc's spine. Evan moved closer, their faces inches apart. Diluc could feel Evan's breath, the proximity making his heart race uncontrollably. They were so close that Diluc could almost imagine the feel of Evan's lips against his. Evan made a promise then, his voice low and sincere. "No matter what happens, or how difficult things get, I will always protect you, Diluc. I will always be by your side. The only thing that will stop me is death."

Diluc blushed, his usual composure completely shattered. He tried to form words, to respond, but nothing came out. He was overwhelmed by the intensity of the moment, the depth of Evan's pledge. Evan smiled gently. For a brief moment, it seemed like he wanted to do something more, something that would cross the line from friendship into something deeper. But he held back. Instead, he simply said, "Goodnight, Diluc," before turning and jumping back out of the window, vanishing into the night. Diluc stood there, his heart racing and his mind spinning. The room felt different, charged with the lingering presence of Evan and the weight of his words. Diluc moved back to the window, looking out into the darkness where Evan had disappeared. The stars and the moon were still there, shining as brightly as ever, but everything felt different now. Evan's promise echoed in his mind, a vow that was both comforting and terrifying in its intensity.

For a long time, Diluc remained by the window, lost in thought. The feelings Evan had stirred in him were confusing and new, something he hadn't allowed himself to feel in a long time. He tried to focus on the familiar, his duties, the responsibilities he bore, but the memory of Evan's touch and the look in his eyes kept intruding. Diluc's thoughts drifted back to the many moments they had shared, the battles fought side by side, the quiet conversations by the fire. Evan had always been there, a constant presence, but tonight had changed something fundamental between them.

As the night wore on, Diluc finally moved away from the window and lay down on his bed. Sleep was elusive, his mind too restless to find peace. He replayed the evening's events over and over, each time feeling a mix of emotions that he struggled to understand. There was a part of him that longed for the closeness Evan had offered, the promise of unwavering support and protection. Yet, there was also fear—fear of loss, fear of vulnerability, fear of the unknown.Diluc sighed, running a hand through his hair. The stars outside seemed to mock him with their calm indifference. He had always prided himself on his strength and independence, on his ability to handle anything that came his way. But Evan's words had pierced through his defenses, exposing a raw, tender part of him that he had kept hidden for so long.

He thought about Evan's story, about the loss of his mother and the pain that still lingered. It was a reminder that everyone carried their own burdens, their own scars. In that shared understanding of loss and grief, Diluc found a strange sense of comfort. He realized that Evan's promise wasn't just about protection, it was about a shared bond, a commitment to face whatever came together. As the first light of dawn began to creep into the sky, Diluc finally felt a sense of calm. He didn't have all the answers, and he knew that the path ahead would be challenging. But he also knew that he wasn't alone. Evan's promise, made under the starlit sky, was a beacon of hope and strength. And for the first time in a long while, Diluc allowed himself to believe that maybe, just maybe, he could let someone else into his life, into his heart.

With that thought, he closed his eyes, letting the weariness of the day finally overtake him. His dreams were filled with stars and promises, with the reassuring presence of Evan by his side. And as the new day dawned, Diluc knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, he would face them with renewed strength and determination, bolstered by the knowledge that he had a friend,no, more than a friend, who would always be there for him.
