You weave a sweater to hide the scars sown into your skin, but it keeps you too warm in the high degree weather, so you have to choose whether to die of heat or shame.
If you take the sweater off, you risk them seeing you. The real you. The person who carries their past like a chain and ball. The person bound together with twine and sorrow. The hopeless being rotting inside you.
You don't want them to know what you are. They'll hang you and blame you. They'll judge you for the that crime you are. Assault and murder committed the first degree. Prosecuted for the flesh you wear and the mind you bear.
