"Why not crush their hopes with the weight of despair? Show them the actual depth of misery that only a genius like you can evoke. Everyone must feel utter despair when they come face to face with your extraordinary talents. You chose to remain silent the entire time to protect yourself, deliberately ignoring the horrifying realities that could engulf you."

My eyes snapped open, and for a disorienting second, I couldn't breathe—the nightmare's claws still digging into my psyche.

The room was too dark, too silent, and my heart galloped like a wild horse. Sweat plastered my hair to my forehead, and I tasted the metallic tang of fear.

I clutched the sheets, my knuckles white, and gasped for air. The nightmare's remnants clung to my skin, and I wondered if I'd ever shake it off thoroughly.

"Another bad dream?" they asked softly.

I nodded, my eyes curtained by my tears. They stepped closer, their touch gentle as they brushed my hair back. "You're safe now," they murmured. "It was just a dream."

A feeling of comfort washed over me, but it took me a while to realize that this was my friend Lucius's voice.

The room materialized—the familiar furniture, the moonlight slanting through the window—but it felt like a flimsy illusion. As I looked up, no one was there, he completely vanished.

But I knew better. Dreams didn't leave claw marks. Dreams didn't steal your breath and leave you trembling on the precipice of madness. This was more—a warning, a revelation. And I wondered if I'd ever wake up entirely if the nightmare had merely shifted shape. Little did I know, this 'shift' was about to become my reality.

As I sat there, lost in my turmoil, a sense of futility washed over me. If anyone were to stumble upon me in this state, they would surely think me insane.

I struggled to remember the last time I had experienced a moment of peace. The weariness that gripped my body seemed to weigh me down, threatening to pull me into exhaustion.

Lucius, I'm sorry. If only I could go back and change everything.

Suddenly, harsh sounds attacked my senses, dragging me from my troubled thoughts. The world around me shifted instantly, engulfing me in a bustling crowd.

Despite my tiredness, my senses sharpened in response to the onslaught of information bombarding me from all sides. Snippets of conversation filled the air, a symphony of anticipation and ambition.

"I can't wait to begin my studies at this prestigious academy," one voice exclaimed eagerly.

"If I can just pass the initiation test, I'll be on my way to a life of luxury as a huntsman," another voice declared confidently.

"I'll outshine all the others! No one will surpass me!" boasted a third voice.

Meanwhile, a voice sounded almost bored. "What's taking so long? Can't we get this started already?"

Confusion twisted through my mind as I grappled with the sudden shift in my surroundings. How had I ended up here? What was unfolding before me?

Panic surged within me, the world spinning as my heart raced and my body trembled in response to the unexpected events.

The auditorium was an awe-inspiring sight, with its massive size and dome-shaped ceiling that displayed lifelike holograms and animations. As I looked around, I noticed that the "students" were dressed in peculiar outfits, some even wearing armor.

It struck me odd to see such weaponry in a school setting—swords, daggers, axes, firearms, lasers, and grenades were commonplace.

Amidst the chatter and laughter, they engaged in various activities such as browsing the internet, keeping up with the latest news and trends, playing games, listening to music, and watching videos.
