It was four in the morning. Hazel was packing her things for the car ride to get Johnny and Ponyboy with Dallas. She then heard footsteps from behind her, causing her to turn around. It was her grandpa, "Where are you going?" Ron asked, "I was gonna go with Dal to get Johnny and Ponyboy-"

"Isn't Johnny the guy that murdered that kid?" Ron interrupted, "Yeah, but-" "Hazel, I let you get away with a lot of things, but I don't think you should go," Ron said, "What? Why?" Hazel said concerned, "I just think that something's gonna happen," "Pops, I'll be fine-" "If you leave this house, you'll be grounded."

"Are you serious?" "Yes, now go to your room and go back to sleep," "But what about Dal, he's supposed to come and get me-" "I already talked to him about it," "How?" "I ran into him on main street, you are not going," "So you didn't wanna tell me this before?" "I'm only looking out for you-" "You're just like granny!" Hazel said as she stormed into her room.

As the sun glowed across the horizon, Hazel looked around the house to see that her grandparents are still in bed. She then walked back into her room and opened her window. She crawled out and landed on her feet, then she started walking away from the house.

She headed to Jesse's house immediately. She walked up the stairs and knocked on the door, with it immediately opening, "Oh, hey Hazel!" Jesse's mother said, "Hey, is Jesse awake yet?" Hazel asked, "Yeah, she's just upstairs if you wanna go see her," "Thank you," Hazel said as she walked up the stairs.

"So your grandpa said no, not your grandma?" Jesse said as she was informed on what happened with Hazel, "Yeah! And he went behind my back and talked to Dal, and then Dal lied about him licking me up after their conversation!" Hazel said, "Shit, so you were right about Dallas being an asshole," "I'm never wrong about that stuff Jesse."

"So now what?" "Well, when he comes back I'm gonna give him a piece of my mind," Hazel said as she laid down on Jesse's bed, "Well, at least you can see Johnny again," "Yeah, if he isn't in jail by the time they're back," Hazel said as she rolled her eyes.

"Didn't Cherry say that she's on the greaser's side-" "And that she will make sure she says it was self defence? Yeah, yet she only met those two that night, so will she?" Hazel said as she sat up, "You got a point there," Jesse said, "I know I do, this whole thing is fucked!" Hazel said as she ran her fingers through her hair.

"When will the boys get back?" "I don't fucking care when they come back at this point, I just won't even see them," "So you're not gonna go to the Curtis's?" "No," "Really?" "Yes, really. If they wanna see me, they can find me somewhere around town," "So you're like, really mad," "Yes! I'm pissed off!" "Do you wanna go to the sewer?" "No, they blocked it off."

"What?!" "Yeah, but we can go to the bridge," "Okay, I just have to wear actual clothes instead of these pyjamas, then we can go," "And also Jesse, please do your hair, it's a mess," Hazel said as she stood up from the bed and walked to the door to give Jesse privacy.

Jesse and Hazel were sitting by the bridge as the temperature grew hot. "Fuck, why does it have to be so hot?!" Jesse said, "Welcome to Tulsa Jesse," Hazel sarcastically said, "I fucking hate the heat," "Same, but you know what I hate more?" "Dallas? Your boyfriend?" "No, and he's not my boyfriend."

"I dunno, you two fight like you're an old married couple," Jesse said, "Haha, very funny!" Hazel laughed sarcastically. Jesse then looked up and noticed a tall length of black smoke coming from over the mountain, "Holy shit!" Jesse said as she stood up.

"What?" Hazel said, standing with her, "Look at that smoke! Jesse said, pointing to it. Hazel looked at the smoke, then remembered where the church was located, "Holy shit..." Hazel said, stumbling back a bit, "Woah, are you okay?" Jesse asked, "Uh, no actually, that's where the boys are," Hazel said with a shaky voice.

"Boys?" "Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dallas."
