I lit up a spliff and placed it in my mouth taking a long draw from it

I took up my neatly ironed shirt and put it on getting ready to go to the Christmas dinner my Dad mentioned to me the day after he flew down

He said it was with one of his employees and her children

A 'work friendly' Dinner

Using two of my fingers I took the spliff out of my mouth pinching it in-between them as I button up my shirt

I took the last puff from it and outed it throwing the remainder of it into the bin

I sprayed on a good amount of cologne before exiting my room closing the door behind me

I went to my mother's room door and knocked

"Mommy mi can come in" I asked, holding onto the knob waiting on her to answer

"Yes"she answers and I open the door and walked in, she was sitting at the edge of the bed, her glasses perched on her nose and her phone in her hands

"Yuh look good did mi bwoii" she smiled, with a glisten in her eyes that reminded me of Tianna

I let out a deep sigh ridding my mind of Tianna and walked over to the mirror admiring myself

Tianna really fumble dis?

"Yuh nahv mirror inah yuh room Rajairo?" She ask and I chuckled

"Yeh but a yours mi wah look inah" I spoke

"Turn round mek mi Tek yuh picture" she spoke and I turned around

She held up the phone in the air and I stood there

"Pose and look young nuh" she laughed

"Mi devn know how fi pose mummy"

"Jhuss gi mi sumn nuh" she spoke looking away from the phone and at me

I placed both my hands in my pocket and stared at the camera and the light flashed signifying she took the picture

"Yuh can gwaan now" she said drawing in bed and covering with the sheet

"Alright lata" I spoke walking to the door

"Yeah lata, love you"

"Lock off ih light when yah come out"

Parking outside of the restaurant, I sat there in complete silence thinking if I should go in or not

Afterall I'm an hour late

I took a deep breath and exited the car, I locked it with the key and made my way inside
