Another chapter! This will most likely cover most if not all of Octovinelle, though with Octovinelle arc, there would be a lot of downtime inbetween sections. Like finals to the confrontation, to underwater to Leona's section to even the Overblot. During this Kai will be doing his own things, like his own exams. The chapters before book 5 will vary from really short depending upon different sections that would be identifiable. But I will always end on a section end, for example never 2 different books in the same chapter.
______________________________________________________I always did find the transition from the almost feastic season with the spell drive directly into exam panic mode quite entertaining. Sitting there on a bench in the halls while most visibly panicked, made an amusement bubble inside. Even Arlan was kinda panicking, well mostly he was just making himself panic. He had once explained to me that he liked any sort of adrenaline rush, whether it was the panic of assignments needing to be turned into other the thrill of battle. He just wasn't used to not having it run through his veins with how he was raised.
Exams were in about 2 weeks, although for some classes students get their exams early so that the teachers would have time to grade them. That or some extra-criculars were project based, like runes. Though Runes class was a different thing altogether usually, it wasn't exactly run by the school I'd found out about recently. Since there was a lack of rune masters, in all of Twisted Wonderland there were perhaps a few hundred, the schools had been requested to offer it, that wasn't to say that the students themselves often qualified for the class. There were different tests depending on what the accessing rune would give you. Apparently Viridis's test had been something akin to solving an algebebraic equation but instead of numbers and letters in common it was runes. While mine had been more verbal and symbolic.
Graduating completing this course of runes would mean we would qualify for the Rune's Master Test. Professor told us that the Rune's Master Test wasn't exactly what it sounded like, it was more like we were testing to see which form of runes we had the best affinity for. Then we would get an apprenticeship with an available and willing master for a few years. Only after that master gave his approval would someone become a 'master'. A master would have the authority to actively participate in rune circle discussions with the other masters of the mysterious group. They would also have the ability to teach others runes. That was the comfirmation from Professor that told us that he was a certified runes master.
The group of freshmen, whom I'd dubbed the one brain cell trio plus the magicless student, were walking down the hallway. While Yuu was looking at them with exasperation, the other three were all arguing with each other. Yelling and looking like they were just about to start throwing magic at each other. It wouldn't have been the first time for them to do so nor the first time this has happened in the halls over the years.
Seven, I could also remember Noah and Lydle getting into an argument. Though Lydle can't verbly argue, the group had made it a point to learn sign language to at least know what he was saying. Lets just say there was still a scorch mark where Lydle had thrown a fire spell at several summoned chickens and the staff was still finding feathers in corners 2 years after the argument. Both Lydle and Noah had gotten cleaning duty till it was sufficiently cleaned and then had to both write a report upon why they shouldn't A. Summon live organisms when untrained (they could summon more than they intended) and B. Why they shouldn't throw spells in the hall, as this had been during passing there were other students in close proximity. Meaning this squabble coud have potentially affected other students.
If a high profile student had gotten injured or attacked by accident then Crowely would have been in big trouble, alongside the students at fault. After all, the school ran not only on the funding provided by the government to train future magicians but by the donations of high profiled individuals or families.
