Look My Way (Viggo)

You and your dragon, a pink Deadly Nadder named Camellia, shot through the air like a bolt fired from a crossbow as the horn, that signalled the release of the black sheep, sounded. You lowered yourself as much as possible against her back to make the two of you more streamlined. She let out a determined squawk as you shot past the other riders.

As the black sheep was launched into the air, you pulled back on the saddle, Camellia stretched out her legs and her talons curled around the sheep. She then took a very sharp left turn, sailed over the top of the riders that had been behind you and began to speed toward the arena. As you raced across the village, out of the corner of your eye, you saw a flash of blue and gold. Looking behind, you saw Stormfly and Astrid.

'Oh no, not today Astrid!' you thought. During some of the smaller races that had taken place a few days before today's big one, you had managed to get a hold of the black sheep only for her and her Nadder to swoop in out of nowhere, steal it and win the race. Well you certainly weren't going to let that happen this time. No, you were going to win this race and there was nothing Astrid Hofferson was going to be able to do to stop you.

Normally you wouldn't care about winning. Ever since you and the other riders had invented the sport of dragon racing, it had only ever been about the fun of it for you. So what exactly had changed that for you? Well, there was someone in the crowd today that you were hoping to impress and the only way you could do that was by winning. After all, when Hiccup and Toothless weren't around, Astrid was the current reigning champion of dragon racing. Taking that title was certain to impress him. Not to mention it would finally get him to notice that you were alive.

Camellia weaved in and out of the closely packed buildings that made up Berk as fast as possible, but Stormfly was quickly gaining on you two. Your hope of wining this race and finally impressing him was quickly disappearing. It was going to take a miracle from the Gods themselves to get them off of your tail.

Then, as if the God Loki himself had heard your prayer, there was the loud sound of a Zippleback explosion followed by someone yelling "fire!" You watched gleefully as Stormfly and Astrid veered off to go and activate the top of the line fire prevention system.

'Thank you Ruff and Tuff,' you thought as the arena finally came into sight. It was times like this you were grateful for the twins and their chaotic nature. Intentional or not, you would have to find a way to thank them for their help in today's victory.

The packed stands surrounding the arena erupted into cheers as Camellia twirled through the air and dropped the black sheep straight into your basket. Seconds later Stoick's hearty voice ran out over the crowd, and announced you as this month's Dragon Racing Champion! You couldn't believe it! You had actually done it! You made a lap around the arena, pumping your fist into the air and enjoyed the sounds of the crowd.

As you made your lap around the arena, your eyes met with the eyes of the man you had been hoping to impress. One brown, the other cloudy blue with blindness. Viggo Grimborn.

The now ex Dragon Hunting Chief had once been one of Berk's most fearsome and deadliest enemies, but since Hiccup had managed to change his mind, and then later saved the man's life, he now lived on Berk and served as an advisor to the future chief. A lot of people hadn't been happy about that and for good reason, but much like Hiccup did, you believed in second chances. After all both Alvin and Dagur had received them, so why not Viggo? Of course, after he had helped you and the other riders finally put a stop to Krogan and Johann's schemes a lot more people had been more accepting of him. Even Stoick no longer looked like he might choke him over all he had done.

Viggo had his arms clasped behind his back, hidden by his black fur cloak, and he appeared to be quite pleased about your win. He wasn't alone in that. You had never heard the crowd so loud before.
