A long day awaited me depending on the events that happened in the morning. Running would be the best option, I could run and probably hide myself somewhere where no one would find me but guess what I was still there, standing outside that auditorium trying to catch my breath and slowing down my beating heart. I got into my head getting lost into what almost happened in there. It was unbelievable that we almost had a moment with Anna. Was I confused? Because I was aware that I only wanted Skylar but that was hard to believe even to me.
As I was still standing in front of the auditorium, a door got yanked open revealing non other than my Boss. "Val I'm sorry, I just got carried away, I'd never do anything to make you feel uncomfortable, I'm really sorry, yes I want you, in fact I like you but I'm willing to wait for you as long as you want but please don't replace me when I'm waiting." she came closer to me when she saw that I was not willing to respond to her rambling and instead hugged me tight. "Say something Valerie, I'm sorry." She whined while still holding me. "It's okay Anna, don't repeat the word sorry, people are going to find us here." After hearing my response she left my chest and wiped what I thought were tears from her face. "Let's go, work awaits." She immediately switching into her bossy attitude and I mimicked her serious face though I felt like bursting out with laughter "okay Ms. Williams." She smiled at my failed attempt and led the way while I followed closely behind her since our offices were opposite to each other.
It was already lunch time and I felt more exhausted than ever before. I didn't know that reviewing paperwork could be so hectic. I stood from my seat where I was seated for the last hours and stretched a little bit. Jason came into my office because at times I could have lunch with him. I needed to first call Sky since I had hung up on her in the middle of the conversation. After some rings she received the call. "Why did you hung up on me in that manner Valerie, you know I don't like it when you do that." She started nagging me and I exhaled loudly. "I'm sorry princess, a lot is going on and I wish you were here not in another town with that bastard." I started my whining. "What did we talk about on how to address Dev, he's my husband Sky, you should start respecting him." Okay, we went back to that lecture again, I didn't know when she would realize that I loved her more than a friend and that was the only reason I hated that bastard husband of hers. Since I didn't want to piss her off I changed the subject.
"Have you already had lunch princess?" I questioned her and she went quiet which implied one thing that she hadn't. Skylar had a sick tendency of skipping meals and she only ate after being scolded. "You haven't, Sky get something to eat now, okay?" I started to wonder what that good for nothing husband of hers was doing if he even couldn't remind his wife to get something to eat. "I'm sorry Val, don't get mad at me I'm going to get something to eat, you should too, Didn't Alice bully you today?" she asked me in a worried voice. "Unfortunately she didn't, don't worry about me, I can handle myself pretty well, let me go in for lunch, Jason is here for me. Nice honeymoon princess." I forced myself to say the last statement. "Okay my love, have a nice day too, see you tomorrow." We hung up and I got ready to leave that place for lunch, but before I could step a foot outside, a door yanked open revealing my exhausted boss who crashed me into a bear hug.
"Get me out of here, I need to have lunch with you." she nonchalantly whispered into my ear, I think she didn't see Jason standing in the corner of my office so I had to get her attention and gestured for her where Jason was standing, getting her to burry her head deeper into my chest eliciting a laugh from me, so I signaled for Jason to go ahead without me which he smiled at and nodded his head. "He has gone, now you should leave my chest, since we're both starving." That got her out of my chest and moved out of my office while looking behind to see if I was following her earning a laugh from me._that woman was going to be the death of me_
We strolled hand in hand with my boss getting glances from my coworkers with some rumbling from others. As we were about to get out Alice approached us with a wide smile on her face. "Good afternoon Ms. Williams" she greeted and Anna disinterestedly responded then Alice faced me. "Can you go for lunch with me Valerie?" she excitedly asked like a child who had seen their new favorite toy. "No, she can't, she's having lunch with me." Anna possessively responded on my behalf with her hand wrapped around my waist. Alice gave her a venomous smile and responded. "Okay Valerie maybe tomorrow will be mine." she then strolled away from us swaying her hips back and forth, I kept looking at her back. I didn't know what had gotten into me with checking out women. "That b**ch" Anna cussed into her breath. "And why are you still looking at her? you're so unbelievable. you can't checkout another girl on my watch." Anna hissed while going outside and I ran after her before she opened her car door. I tugged her at the hand towards me. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." I tried explaining myself, but her response threw me off guard. "Can I kiss you?"
As tempting as it sounded, I couldn't, we were in public and anyone could possibly see us and that couldn't be good for the both of us. That couldn't happen, at least not in my society because if it did the next day could be our funeral. So, instead of turning her down, I motioned for her to open her car door which she did with no hesitation and I followed suit closing the door behind me. Anna's car glasses were tinted that no one could see what was happening inside.
I touched Anna by the jaw, pulled her closer to me and brought our lips closer. I captured her bottom lip and we kissed each other in sync. I pulled away before we could deepen the kiss, she kept looking at me breathlessly. She looked so beautiful.
"Lunch break is about end, we have a lot of paperwork to review, you should drive us to that lunch." That snapped her out of her trance and drove off in silence towards a certain restaurant. She opened her car door and I follow suit.
She held out her hand for me to hold which I happily took and we walked closely hand in hand towards a certain five star hotel. We passed by the reception towards a reserved table.
"You didn't have to do all of this, you know that?" I whispered to her of which she just brushed off with just a smile on her face. We had our food in peace and afterwards headed outside. Upon stepping foot outside, Anna remembered that she had to pee leaving me standing outside to wait for her.
As I was waiting for Anna, a certain man approached me wearing a smug look on his face checking me out. _I wondered what was there to checkout because I was wearing a male suit._
"Can I have your phone number beautiful?" he arrogantly asked and I turned him down politely but he didn't take me seriously.
"Why can't I have your number, is it because you're a dyke?" He provoked me while coming extremely closer to me. I waited for just one more step towards me so that I could teach him a lesson, which he did. I grabbed his hand and twisted it behind his back making him scream in agony. "Do it again and I break your hand." I released his hand and he stumbled. He cussed me calling me a dyke again but I didn't mind as long as he didn't come closer to me again.
"That was hot princess." Anna praised me while jumping up and down _I started to wonder how that child could handle a company._
I just laughed at her childish behavior, got in the car and drove off back to the company.
We entered the company together still hand in hand. Jason approached us excitedly while jumping up and down like a child.
"I have the gossip you'll die to listen to." he said while jumping and then composed himself when he recognized the boss standing beside me, he bent slightly like a sign of respect.
"I'm sorry Ms. Williams but can I steal Valerie from you for a minute?" The boss just nodded her head and swayed her hips to the elevator. I kept looking at her movements until she reached into the elevator and turned to face me, she then winked at me and closed the elevator doors. I turned around to face my friend. "Are you done checking out the boss?" I just blushed and asked him about the gossip he had for me.
"It's Alice, she's in love and she's telling everyone that she met someone." I started panicking from the inside and I prayed that u shouldn't be the one. "Who exactly is she in love with?" I pressed harder. "No one in particular but there's someone just know and she's going to reveal the name tomorrow." The panic in me increased even more.
"I should go Jason, I'll see you after work, I think the boss is tired of waiting for me." _I had to find Alice, I knew that she hated me, but getting me killed would be an exaggeration_
I rushed towards their office, I had to see her immediately.
