Worried, scared and afraid is what I was feeling at the moment.
I was worried that things might take a wrong turn, I didn't like the awkwardness that could come between us because it would shatter me completely. I was scared of the world, scared because the world we lived in was a very scary place. I was scared of seeing Skylar getting hurt because of my failure to control my raging feelings.
I was afraid of losing her, afraid of facing the reality that she would never be mine.
I was about to bid goodbye to the love of my life. As I wished to call her, we had agreed upon some things even though it was painful.
We agreed to never be intimate with each other ever again. "because we're not gay" according to Sky _I wish she knew_.
We agreed to carry-on our friendship as though nothing happened. Agreed to never talk about what happened that night ever not even to anyone.
Sky suggested getting me a boyfriend because I deserved happiness too _little did she know that she was my happiness_.
We shared our last kiss as requested by Skylar, "Kiss me one last time Valerie, I want to feel your soft lips on mine. Please, for the last time" requested Skylar as she tried to steady her breathing.
We were in the sitting room with Skylar on my lap sharing a steamy kiss which I felt like it shouldn't be the last one because her lips were so addictive like a drug.
After some time, we broke the kiss panting. We looked into each other's eyes, and should I say that I saw sparkling eyes for the first time, yeah, Skylar's eyes were sparkling.
I blinked back tears because I was dying from the inside and I had to be strong for the both of us. I didn't want to let go of her but it was the right thing to do, though it hurt so much. I tasted her and the anticipation of never doing it again was daunting at me even more than before.
As we were lost into each other's eyes, a knock interrupted our moment cutting it short.
Skylar left my lap and went to open the door, I followed behind her closely and as she was about to open the door, I grabbed her by the waist, pulled her towards and smashed my lips onto hers. I kissed her hungrily and she kissed me back with the same intensity.
A knock interrupted us again and I smiled bitterly at her knowing that it was indeed goodbye. She was to be gone for a week.
I pecked at her lips one last time. "Goodbye princess." I said while caressing her cheek softly with admiration flashing in my eyes.
"I'm not gone forever, you'll see me after a week." Said Sky while blinking back tears. "I love you Valerie." My stomach formed twists and a swarm of butterflies filled my stomach. If I were white, I would be crimson red by that time. "I love you too Princess." I responded though I knew deep down that I loved her more than a friend.
An impatient knock was hard again and I burst out into laughter. "Let me take a leave Valerie, take care of yourself, and let me hope that the new C.E.O would be amazing." She pecked my lips and opened the door. I smiled at myself _It looked like I would be getting more of those pecks in the future._
"Hi Dev." I forced out a smile because truth be told, I resented that guy. "Hi Valerie, hope you've taken care of my wife well." He said with a smug look on his face which made me feel like punching him in the face and wipe that look off his face.
"Yes Dev, I have, even more than you could." I responded because my blood started boiling when I saw him holding my princess by the waist and started kissing her. _that bastard was so unbelievable._
"I should get going, I don't wanna be late for work." I told the lovey dovey annoying couple.
Sky noticed my mood and broke her embrace with Dev, held my hand, "Give us a minute honey." She said while pulling me inside and closing the door behind us.
"What the hell Valerie, I know you don't like Dev but can you at least pretend to not hate him in his presence, you know I'm going to miss you as much as you're going to miss me, but please can you stop being rude in front of Dev, and what was that of you taking care of me more than he could, are you trying to get us killed?" she whisper yelled to me and I just shrugged
"At least kiss me goodbye." I asked her while pouting a little bit. "Val, we talked about this." I didn't wait for her to complete that sentence, instead I grabbed her by the waist, looked straight into her eyes asking for permission which she granted by leaning in and then kissed me passionately. "Till we meet again princess." I whispered into her ear and she shivered. I left her breathless, got my court, threw it on my shoulder, closed the door behind me and came face to face with Dev. _ I wished he didn't hear anything because that would be d茅javu_ "Is she alright?" Asked Dev with concern in his voice. I smiled at him nodding my head yes and headed to my bike.
I all the time had a bike ride while going to work, my bike was pretty old because my salary was not enough to enable me purchase a new one. But it was enough to sustain me.
So, I rode my bike leaving the newly Weds in my apartment. Sky knew where I put the keys so I was not worried about that.
I was all set to meet the new boss.
I arrived at work a few minutes late ready to face the music. l didn't want to mess up my job. I entered the company building and greeted the receptionist and my workmates here and there. I entered into the elevator and pressed the floor number leading to my office. I did not carry coffee for the boss that day because I didn't know the new C.E.O's best flavor.
People started entering the elevator and the chatter started getting loud. "Have you seen the new C.E.O, they say she's hot and she's even single." Said Jason. He was among a few people who attempted talking to me since everyone thought that I was weird given my dress code, I loved dressing up in male suits and I didn't care about their opinions.
I was a weirdo to them for being a stud and being best friends with a white chick.
"Oh, I've not heard anything at all since I've been occupied with my best friend's wedding, what are you suggesting are you going to try hitting on the president's daughter?" I asked Jason teasingly and he smiled at me but didn't respond to my assumptions.
"Are you also going to hit on her dyke?" Taunted my frenemy Alice. Alice was my biggest enemy since school, she never liked me even in a tiny bit. She used to call me all homophobic names but I paid her no attention.
"Back off Alice." Said Jason in my defense. "Or what, are you gonna hit me for insulting your girlfriend? you two deserve each other, weirdos." Alice responded while facing Jason. Jason balled her hands into fists and I held them stopping him from reacting in a way that could get him into trouble.
"It's okay Jason." I reassured him and the elevator dang indicating that some people were getting out. Everyone got out leaving me and Alice alone in that tiny moving machine.
"Why do you hate me so much?" I asked Alice in disbelief but she didn't say anything, instead she stood in front of me closer than appropriate and caressed my nape, pulled me closer to her and kissed me feverishly.
I froze for a while and then the elevator door opened signaling for our departure. Alice got out leaving me stunned in the elevator.
Before it could close on me, I got my thoughts together and ran outside but wondering about what just happened, How it happened and why it happened. I ran into someone dropping all my papers on the ground, I dropped down on my knees saying sorry to the person I ran into.
As I was still picking up my papers, a hand touched mine and that's when I looked up coming face to face with none other than Anna in the flesh.
"Are you stalking me now?" I asked her in disbelief. "And will you always be clumsy?" She stroke back while smirking at me.
I got back to collecting my papers while she insisted on helping me.
"You didn't answer my question Anna, are you stalking me?" I asked her again. "To answer your question, no, I'm not stalking you, even though it would be my pleasure to do so."
She responded with a smirk while helping me with my papers and then walking away with them heading to my office. "Where do you think you're going Anna?" I asked her while running towards her and she wordlessly just entered my office. "This must be your office." Anna said while placing my papers on my table. "How did you know? see! you're stalking me." I shot back and she just laughed while walking seductively towards me, my feet took me back until I hit a wall. "You should thank me with a kiss for helping you with your papers." She huskily teased me then licked the crook of my neck and afterwards left me breathing heavily in my office.
I don't know what happened to me that day, at first it was Alice and then Anna. Why would I attract an unnecessary crowd. How I wished it was Sky doing that to me, I would have been the happiest woman alive, but guess what, she was already taken and never would she ever be mine and she was already out there enjoying her honeymoon with her husband Dev.
As I was still day dreaming in my office, my office phone rang, and. "Come to the meeting in the auditorium." Said the President's secretary. I immediately matched up to the auditorium eager to meet the mysterious C.E.O everyone was talking about.
