"Ladies, ladies, ladies, today is your lucky day," a slurred masculine voice called from behind.
Evie, recognizing the voice, looked up to the ceiling, hands open, palms raised in prayer, and questioned the heavens, Why me?! Why?!
"Hey, Brian," Cecelia said next to her. Evie growled in annoyance and turned around in her seat to face the pig-headed ogre.
"What is it?" Evie spat, acid coating her words.
"What's up your sand trap?" Brian shook his head and pulled out a stack of black and gold tickets from his jacket. "Whatever plans you girls have for tonight, throw them out the window because tonight, we're VIP at Max Lounge!"
"What's Max Lounge?" Cecelia asked. Evie took out her phone and opened her browser.
"Only the coolest club in the city," he said confidently. "So what do you say?"
"Uh... I don't know," Cecelia looked to Evie.
"Five stars and great reviews. Check it out," Evie said, handing Cecelia her phone.
"Wait, you actually want to go?" Cecelia asked, surprised.
"Yeah, this sounds kind of cool. Not bad, Brian. There may be hope for you yet."
"Awesome. You girls got any friends you want to bring? I've got two extra tickets..."
"Oh yeah? I met this really cool girl named Jen last night in my figure drawing class. I can see if she wants to come!" Cecelia clapped her hands in excitement. "I can text her now!"
"I'll see if my friend Phoebe wants to come, but I don't know if she's really into the whole nightlife thing," Evie offered.
"Yeah, that sounds great," Brian said. "What dorm are you at? Andrew and I will come get you girls around eight."
"Jen said she's down! And we're at Goddard Hall. Call us when you're close by." Cecelia smiled, and at that moment, Professor Peterson entered the room. Everyone turned to face him.
"Who's got the sign-in sheet?" the professor asked. A girl with brown hair at the other end of the room raised her hand, stood up, and brought the sheet over to him. Cecelia turned back and looked at Brian.
"I'm excited! We'll talk more after class." She smiled and turned around.
Got this in the bag, Brian thought to himself with a smug grin on his face.
Cecelia had invited Brian and his roommate Andrew to share lunch with her and Evie in the courtyard after class. The group now sat at a table under an umbrella, their lunches on trays, talking amongst themselves.
"Brian, these tickets say the club is twenty-one and up," Cecelia said, holding one of the black and gold tickets in her hand.
"Yeah, about that... you girls don't have fake IDs?"
