Alex's POV
"Really, Marques? I thought we were clear that we ended this thing weeks ago." I glared at him, arms crossed, trying to make my point clear.
He shrugged casually, that infuriating smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "You kissed me back, so don't act like it's all on me. That was a two-person job, after all."
I rolled my eyes. He always had a comeback. "Does my sister always just show up without knocking?" he asked, clearly trying to shift the focus off our situation.
"Yeah, she has a habit of doing that ever since I gave her a key—for emergencies, though, not for dropping in whenever she feels like it," I sighed. "But that's not the point. I hope we're clear now. This—" I gestured between us, "—will not happen again."
"You sure about that?" he teased, leaning in slightly. "You didn't seem to mind it before Josy rudely interrupted us." He winked.
I rolled my eyes again, fighting the urge to throw something at him. "Yes, I'm pretty sure. So, if you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you and your cocky butt would leave my house now. And by the way, I expect to see you at training tomorrow. We've got an important game on Sunday, and I don't want the whole school calling you a loser."
He chuckled. "If we lose, you'll be a loser too, Alex."
"Just shut up and leave before I introduce you to Spatulara," I threatened, nodding toward the spatula on the kitchen counter. As if on cue, my phone buzzed with a new message. I glanced at it, groaning internally when I saw it was from Josy. She was mad. Not that it surprised me—she had every right to be upset after what she'd witnessed.
I bit my lip, trying not to laugh. Josy had a knack for sarcasm when she was upset, but I knew she'd get over it soon enough. That's just how we were. Still, I couldn't help but be curious about the new neighbors. Pushing Marques out the front door, I glanced over his shoulder and saw Josy sitting in her car, watching something intently. She caught my eye and pointed toward the driveway next door. I followed her gaze and felt my heart drop into my stomach.
The car parked in front of the house belonged to none other than Xavier Wood, the quarterback for our rival team. My eyes widened in disbelief.
Marques laughed beside me, shaking his head. "Really? The Woods? Out of all the people who could move in, it had to be them. This is too good."
I removed my hands from Marques's shoulders, suddenly feeling awkward. *The Woods*—as in *that* family.
The family consists of the Ex-Football player Ry Wood, who got injured in his last college game. He already had a contract with a professional team. Now he has a job in his dads finance company and is assistant coach in my high school team. Joena is next, she is the only girl and studies Law in New York. She is the only normal one in that family besides the parents. God have mercy for them.
Xavier Wood is the second oldest son. The "best Quarterback" that the other team ever had. I mean I have to say he is not bad, they are actually hard to beat but we still manage to do that most of the time. We are the best. He is also known for being the hottest bachelor and biggest asshole in town.
His brother Lucien is the complete opposite. He is not interested in football at all. He is the brain of all the boys. He is smart, kind and hot. So no wonder I chose him to be my tutor. and maybe also because I got a little crush on him. But I would never admit that to anyone. Alexandra Stewart doesn't find anybody attractive and would never have a crush on anyone.
And then there is the youngest one. I honestly don't even know what he looks like. I think his name is Levi. He is on the bench for the Eagles most of the time. He is the reserve QB. But he never really gets to play at all. Xavier is way too proud to even let his younger brother steal his spotlight.
