Alex's POV

Earlier that Day - Text Conversation

Alex: Did you hear that we are apparently going on a trip together for winter break?

Brainless (Levi): ugh you are coming with us? you just ruined it

Alex: you are the problem not me

Brainless: I was so excited 😭(crying emoji)...I am never the problem

Alex: Cry about it

Brainless: Ugh who do you think I am?! Never cried in my life

Alex: Denial is a river in egypt. You definitely cry a lot. I am sure of it

Brainless: and your husband is gay

Alex: My husband is football so technically, he can't love anyone

Brainless: Oh right. Makes sense

Alex: Anyway, I saw your post btw. Nice motorcycle.

Brainless: oh that? thx, i didn't know you could be nice 😳

Alex: Don't get used to it, Wanna come watch a race sometime?

Brainless: ehm random but sure. I'll think about it. Send me the info.

Alex: Don't worry, I will. I need someone to push down in case something happens.

Brainless: Uh-huh, there's the Alex I know. Her true self.

Alex: You know nothing about my true self

Alex: here the info...you should show up, it would be fun. i know a guy who works there, he would get us good seats

Brainless: one of your exes?

Alex: none of your business. I got contacts everywhere..I'm actually a likable person unlike you

Brainless: uh good to know? I guess...hope you didn't had to sleep with all of them

Alex: I don't sleep with people...I don't need to use my body to get things done or to get favors

Brainless: sure...How else are you getting them? Can't be your charm

Alex: definitely that

Alex: plus people don't look at me that way

Alex: you will don't worry

Brainless: yeah you are right, i wouldn't even know a single one who would voluntarily sleep with you much less for doing something in return for you

Alex: first time that you ever agree on something with me

Alex: if you only you knew what people do for me without getting anything from me

Brainless: can't join tonight, family obligation!

Alex: Oh what a bummer, next time then!

Alex: Lucien volunteered to go instead

Later - at the Motorcycle Competition

The hum of engines filled the air as I navigated the parking lot of the motorcycle competition, my heart syncing with the steady rumble around me. The event was in full swing, with bikers of all kinds revving their engines, showing off their rides, and gathering in tight-knit groups around the lot. The smell of burning rubber and gasoline was intoxicating—just the way I liked it. It was the kind of atmosphere that made me feel alive, like everything else faded into the background, and I could just be.

But as I cut the engine and looked over at Lucien in the passenger seat, I could see that he didn't share my excitement. He shifted uncomfortably, taking in the sea of leather jackets, gleaming chrome, and gruff voices. I smiled at him, trying to ease the tension I could feel building between us.
