The sun was setting behind the trees, creating both beautiful lights in the sky, in shades of pink, orange and purple, as well as eerie shadows cast by the trees. The evening air was crisp and chill as it blew through my hair as Sage led me through the increasingly darkening woods.

Earlier in the evening as I was getting the kids in their tents, he asked me to go somewhere with him.

But he didn't actually tell me where.

"Uh, where are we going?" I asked.

"You'll see." He told me, and didn't explain further.

Great.

Before we left, he convinced Wylda to keep an eye on the kids. I knew Sage liked her, but I still didn't have a good feeling about her. At all.

She comes out of nowhere after weeks of Sage and I living peacefully by ourselves with the kids, claims she's a 'friend' of his when I've never seen her before, and wants to come with us when we want to leave.

Not to mention she always hangs around Sage.

And that he seems to like it.

I couldn't tell if he liked her, or the attention she was giving him constantly.

Something wasn't right about her. Especially with all of those scars.

She's definitely hiding something.

"Are you sure it was ok to leave Wylda with the kids?" I asked Sage, still unsure of my decision to come with him.

He sighed. "Yes, Lynn. I'm sure it's fine. You can trust her."

"If you're sure."

"I am."

We kept walking as it got darker and darker, and as the birds were flying above us, returning to their nests. The further we walked , the less and less sure I was that Sage knew where he was going.

"Are you-" I tried.

"Yes." Sage interrupted. "I'm sure."

"Sure you are. We've never been here, and I'm sure you know exactly where you're going."

"We're almost there." He assured me.

We walked on for a little longer.

I sighed. "Why did you want to take me somewhere?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean," I started. "Wouldn't you want to take someone else? Like Wylda for example? You seem very fond of her." I rolled my eyes, even though he couldn't see it.

It didn't seem like he heard me, because he jogged forwards, and peeked through the bushes.

"Come here." He said. "And close your eyes."

"Why?" I asked. "Can't I just walk by myself?"

"Trust me."

I reluctantly closed my eyes, he gently took my hands, and led me through the bushes. The grass rubbing against my boots disappeared, and the ground became soft, and almost seemed to give away under the soles of my boots as I stepped on it.

"Ok, open your eyes."

I carefully opened my eyes to an incredible sight.

We stood in front of a large pond that was a deep indigo hue. Far underneath the water, the fish glowed in a variety of colors, like pink, blue and purple.

While the pond alone was magnificent, the best part was the waterfall.

Set back fifty feet or so, was a beautiful waterfall. As it rushed off of the rocks, it gleamed with a neon blue light, and as it hit the water below, it created bubbles and foam that sparkled, hitting us with a misty spray.
