sunmi's perspective
finally back home, though i was only away for a few days, but oh how i have missed my sanctuary, my most humble abode.
this loft, or dorm as they call it, was part of the contract agreement when i signed up with the company. they provided me with not just a roof over my head but also pre-made meals, healthcare supplements, and protein drinks. (which i have yet to touch, by the way)
to visualise my sanctuary : it is two-storey loft. the first floor is an open space that includes the living room, kitchen, and dining area. walk through the hallway from the main door, and on the left, you'll find the kitchen. it's fully equipped with a fridge, stove with a built-in oven, microwave, and a countertop where i usually serve and eat my meals. the dining table? rarely used.
too much effort to go around the countertop and all that plus the counter top is equipped with a sink, so..after my meal i can just wash my dishes on the go.
beyond that, there's the living room, a white sectional sofa, coffee table shaped like a lego, courtesy of a gift from my coach from the previous match i had all the way from euro, hehe my fav furniture ever.
a little side note : our coach loves to spoil my team, but that is only if we had excel well (by well, it means that you must get the gold medal)
standing tall in the far corner, is a gift from eomma, a fiddle fig leaf. she said it would help reduce stress and boost my mood. i googled it right after she placed the plant there, and guess what? she was spot on.
the heavy curtains, drawn tight, have made the living room a bit too dim, shutting out the sun's beautiful glow. but when i pull the curtains side by side, it reveals a vast and stunning concrete jungle from my ninth-floor dorm.
up on the second floor, which is my refuge from literally everything, is my bedroom. it's an open concept, so the second floor is like a veranda. from up here, i can see everything. my bedroom is directly above the kitchen area.
there are two extra bedrooms on the first floor, reserved for yoona unnie and my parents whenever they want to crash here but! that's a rare occasion, so these rooms are basically for anyone who wants to stay. but let's be real, i don't have that many friends, so apart from yoona unnie's room, the other one have become my dressing area, storage for pr gifts, and a place for my taekwondo gear.
despite the descriptions of my loft sounding like its spacious, its actually quite small, but enough to make me feel like im at home.
i plopped myself down on the beanbag i purchased online a few days ago. it was a bit pricey, but considering how enormous it is (i am literally swallowed by it), i think the price is justified.
before this beanbag came into my life, i used to sit on the floor, leaning against a stool, admiring the city. people-watching became a hobby.
the time reads 11:30 a.m.
yet the park below is alive with activity. people are jogging briskly, others are walking leisurely, and office workers are racing towards the train stations, a stark contrast to the otherwise serene scene.
i hope they all arrive safely. once, i saw a lady running in heels, chasing a cab. fortunately, a kind gentleman stopped the cab for her, and she managed to get in. it felt like watching a thriller unfold in real-time.
