its monday, meaning that its sunmi's first day of dance practice with svt, but she arrives early at hybe to start her taekwondo training
as an athlete, she and the other athletes have a dedicated practice room equipped with gym equipment and other facilities suited to their needs
there are a few athletes from her team who come to training.
"oh sunbae, hello," said her teammates. sunmi greets them with a smile and bows.
"i thought you're on your off days," asks one of her teammates, mina. mina is one of her closest friends in the taekwondo team, also the only mother in the team since she got married two years ago and is now blessed with two beautiful kids.
sighing as she takes off her jacket, sunmi reveals a compression t-shirt that exposes her torso.
"tell me about it," she says, heaving a heavy sigh. "coach says i'm competing this sunday."
mina, who hears this, also sighs, feeling the burden sunmi is carrying. she pats her shoulders and cheers her up.
it is supposed to be her day off, but the last-minute notice of her participation in the upcoming tournament this sunday made her worry that she might disappoint her coach
"don't dwell on it, sunmi. it's just a mini-tournament, you can do it," she reminds herself of the text she received from her coach. the text was then followed by apologies for the last-minute update, explaining that he was also informed late by the team leader
"i can do this," she says softly
moving towards the speaker, she sets the mood by playing her gym playlist, which includes some of seventeen's songs like "super" (workout version)
she begins her training with a quick run on the treadmill, followed by a thirty-minute basic gym workout, and finishes with some taekwondo moves, practising her punches and kicks on the punching bags. every punches and kicks echoes throughout the room
she is in her element and doesn't realise that someone is standing at the door watching her. it is wonwoo
"AAAHH!" yells sunmi. she was about to practice on her reverse side kick when she sees wonwoo standing by the door with his arms folded making him look alot more buffer than he already is, she almost stumbles but wonwoo comes running to her and holds her, stopping her from falling.
her teammates, witnessing the whole thing, gasp.
"this looks like it comes out of a kdrama scene!" whispers one of the juniors, earning glares from mina, who also can't help but gasp and fangirl a little at the sight.
"continue your routine," instructs mina sternly to her juniors.
"sorry. i didn't mean to," says wonwoo, just inches away from her. noticing the proximity, he gently lets go of her.
sunmi, even more surprised that wonwoo helps her, says nothing as she is both shocked that wonwoo is there and that he has helped her.
firstly, these two have never had an actual conversation that lasted more than ten seconds.
secondly, they have only exchanged a few smiles when they come across each other. compared to woozi, sunmi has talked with him longer than wonwoo, which makes woozi much closer—an acquaintance still, but at this level, woozi is a friend to her. not saying that wonwoo isn't a friend, but considering their never-talk situation, this whole thing is new to her.
"ah, that's ok, thanks," she says, wiping her sweat with the towel she hung on one of the gym's equipment.
"what brings you here?" she asks.
