Chapter Fourteen

Paige grabbed a bottle of gatorade from the fridge as she left her dorm. She hadn't been able to think straight. The only thing on her mind for the last two days had been Maria Daniels and their encounter on the stairs. Even Geno had noticed her head wasn't in the game, he'd called her to his office after training earlier to ask if she was okay. Especially after her injury, the last thing Geno wanted was Paige to start getting in her head. He'd sat her down and recommended going to talk to someone if she was struggling with anything.

'I can ask one if of Andrea's interns would talk to you. If you wanted to talk to someone, y'know, less professional.'

Geno's words rang in her ear. She had told him that there was no reason for him to be worried and everything was fine, but she could tell he wasn't convinced. God, Maria was driving her crazy.

Her gym bag bumped into her hip as walked to the gym. A different gym, instead of going to the one in the same facility as the basketball courts, Paige decided to go to one on the other side of the campus. As much as Paige felt she needed to talk to Maria, the last thing she needed was to see her when she was trying to get her mind off her. Maria could wait, the gym couldn't.

She handed her ID to the girl at the counter. She eyed Paige oddly as she scanned her in, not that Paige held that against her. She wasn't exactly able to just walk around campus normally, she was almost a celebrity at UConn and usually the basketball players used their own gym, not the communal one. She ignored the looks she was getting as she walked through the double doors into the corridor that lea to the weight room. She looked around the hall for a sign to show her the way. It had been ages since she had last been here and obviously they'd changed the layout since. She walked into where the old weight room was, looking around at the punching bags hanging from the ceiling. This wasn't what she was looking for.

"Hey, do you need some help?" A voice called from the back of the room.

"Um- Yeah. Do you know where the weight room is?" Paige peered around the punching bags, trying to see where the voice was coming from.

"Just give me a second." She spotted a guy, getting up off the floor. He picked up a couple of rolls of fabric before putting them into a box. "Wrap. For under the gloves." He turned around, seeing Paiges questioning expression which quickly turned sour when she saw his face.

Ethan.

"Don't look so shocked, it doesn't hurt or nothing." He grinned at Paige's frown. "I'm Ethan by the way."
