A New Mission For Knuckles

A few weeks after Robotnik's second defeat, things were finally starting returning to normal, almost at least, for it seems that Knuckles was having a little hard time adjusting to his new life on Earth, like attacking some people who were in reality came to repair the house, or making a throne out of some parts from the Wachowski couple's car for example. Right now, Knuckles was in the attic, laying on the floor with nothing to do as Maddie had grounded him for the trouble he caused, and that was when Sonic came to the scene, riding on his tire swing. Sonic: "Hey buddy, how's it going?" Knuckles: "Leave me be hedgehog... I'm not in the mood... for I am now banished on the floor of shame..." Sonic: "Oh come on Knuckles, being grounded isn't all that bad, I was forced to live in a cave for nearly 10 years, surely you can survive a few days here." said Sonic, before Tails came up to the attic. Tails: "Yeah, and maybe you can learn how to love the peaceful life on Earth, I mean this planet is amazing... like the people here in Green Hills." Knuckles: "But they're not warriors." Sonic: "Maybe not in the same class as you're familiar with, but there many kinds of warriors... besides, there are many things to do here, like comic books, video games, which have come a long way since the 90's, and some music too." Tails: "And we'll be there for you too, as we roommates have to stick together." Knuckles: "Ugh... noun of you could understand... my life has no meaning without the ways of the warrior..." Tails: "Well it's not really our fault Knuckles, we weren't raised to be warriors like you did." Knuckles: "I know... [looking up the window] oh wise and powerful echidna elders... I seek your wisdom... what must I do?" asked Knuckles, which confused the others a little, as nothing seemed to have happen. Sonic: "Uh... who were you talking to?" Knuckles: "Nobody..." said Knuckles, before another echidna, who was much older, named Chief Pachacamac (voiced by Christopher Lloyd), appeared out of nowhere, reading a newspaper while sitting on the beanbag chair. Chief Pachacamac: "Are you kidding me?, that baseball team lost again?" Tails: "Ahh!" Sonic: "Who are you?!" Knuckles: "Assassin!" cried out the group, before Knuckles points a rubber chicken at the newcomer. Chief Pachacamac: "Relax Knuckles, it's only me." said the chief echidna elder as he puts down the newspaper, and the sight of his face made the young echidna to gasp. Knuckles: "Chief Pachacamac?" Sonic: "You know him?" Knuckles: "Yes... he was the leader of my original tribe..." Chief Pachacamac: "Indeed I was... now put down the rubber chicken and give your old chief a... [passing through Knuckles and then passed through the floor, before coming back up] oh right... I'm a ghost~." Tails: "Ghost?!" Chief Pachacamac: "Fear not, young man, I am only here to give Knuckles here some guidance." Knuckles: "Chief... thank goodness you're here, I managed to find the Master Emerald, but with my quest completed, I don't know what I must do now." Chief Pachacamac: "Oh Knuckles my boy, your quest is not over, it's only begun, for you are the last of the echidnas, meaning the fate of our tribe are in your hands." Knuckles: "Oh yes... that is true... what must I do?" Chief Pachacamac: "I want you to train an apprentice, teach him the ways of the echidna, so that our tribe can grow once more." Knuckles: "Where will I find such a student?" Chief Pachacamac: "Right here." said the echidna elder ghost, before showing a newspaper that shows a picture of Wade Whipple winning a hotdog eating contest. Tails: "Wade Whipple?" Sonic: "Wait... dad's deputy?" Knuckles: "I know this man... but he's not a warrior." Chief Pachacamac: "Neither were you when we first met, he might not look like much, but he has the qualities of a warrior in his heart... and he seeks to win tournament of champions at a place called... Reno Nevada." Knuckles: "A tournament of champions?, that sounds like my kind of place to be." said Knuckles, before Pachacamac begins to fly up towards the window. Chief Pachacamac: "Go on Knuckles, teach Wade the ways of our tribe, remember, the fate of our tribe rest in your... [bumping into the window] ugh!, stupid window!, how does this ghost stuff even work?!... [finally passing through the window] as I was saying... the fate of our tribe rest in your hands!" called out the elder echidna, before he leaves the scene. Knuckles: "I won't let you down..." Sonic: "Whoa... now there's something you don't see everyday..." Tails: "So... what now?" Knuckles: "Didn't you hear?, I must train Wade in the ways of the echidna." said Knuckles, before he runs off to find Wade, while Sonic and Tails followed behind. At Wade's house, Wade was trying to make himself stronger by lifting some weights but failed and had trouble breathing as the weights were on top of him, before Knuckles came and picks up the weights. Wade: "Oh... hey Knuckles... thanks..." Knuckles: "Wade Whipple... I have heard that you're going to a tournament of champions... am I correct?" Wade: "Well kinda... but uh... how did you get in here?" Sonic: "We climbed through the window." Tails: "Hey." Wade: "Hi Sonic, hi Tails... you came to see me?" Knuckles: "Yes, I was told you're going to a tournament of champions, and I want to see it for myself." Wade: "Well... I can't go there... I got kicked out of the team... cause I'm a loser..." Sonic: "Sorry to hear that bud..." Knuckles: "Well it's true you're a loser now... however, with me training you in the ways of the echidna, you will become a warrior." Wade: "Really?" Tails: "That's what he said." Knuckles: "And in return of me training you, you must take me to this tournament of champions at this place called, Reno Nevada." Wade: "Sure, but what about Sonic and Tails here?" Sonic: "Well we want to make sure Knuckles doesn't make a scene, so we're going with ya." Tails: "Yup." Wade: "Oh cool, I'll go with that." Knuckles: "But what about the Master Emerald?" Tails: "Don't worry, it's in an undisclosed location." Sonic: "It's in your backpack... isn't it?" Tails: "... Uh... yeah pretty much... that way we can keep an eye on it." Knuckles: "Very well... at least we can keep a close eye on it... now then... off to Reno Nevada." said Knuckles, before he, Sonic, Tails, and Wade went into a police car and drove off to Reno Nevada. Unaware of the group, they were being watched by satellites that were taking surveillance all over the world for G.U.N. HQ, and the ones in the surveillance room was a woman named Agent Willoughby (played by Ellie Taylor) and a man named Agent Mason (played by Scott Mescudi) and they had a sinister smile on their faces, before Agent Willoughby pressed some buttons on a remote that takes down all the surveillance of G.U.N., preventing anyone else of G.U.N. HQ to know about the aliens are out of Green Hills or finding them. Agent Mason: "So... we're now the only ones who can find those aliens?" Agent Willoughby: "Correct Agent Mason... and soon we'll have our payment..." said Agent Willoughby, as it turns out that she and Agent Mason have betrayed G.U.N. to get paid on catching the aliens, and right now she was making a call with the one called 'The Buyer', who was really named Dr Zachary (played by Roy McCann), and the man at the moment, was building some sort of mech. The Buyer: "What is it?, I'm busy." Agent Willoughby: "We may have an interesting opportunity... the aliens have left Green Hills." The Buyer: "Really?, all three of them?" Agent Willoughby: "Indeed..." The Buyer: "Well... in that case... I suggest you take some weapons I built for you... which are powered from the quills of the echidna, after all... anyone who challenges Knuckles better be ready for the fight of their lives..." Agent Mason: "Alright... I like the sound of that... but uh... where did you get the echidna's quills?" The Buyer: "Well... let's just say I know someone who managed to get a hold of some... and the same would go for the Warp rings." Agent Mason: "What rings?" The Buyer: "They're special rings that can open up portals to wherever you want to go... that's how these aliens travel to other worlds." Agent Willoughby: "Hmm... those might come in handy if we have any..." The Buyer: "Well lucky for you... I'll get you some of those rings too, but remember... you must be on your guard on not just Knuckles, but the other two aliens as well... for while they might not be as strong... they're a real force to be reckon with..." Agent Mason: "Good, it's about time I get to a real challenge." said Agent Mason, while The Buyer just had a sinister smile on his face. Meanwhile, back with Wade and the aliens, Knuckles was enjoying some grapes in his hands. Wade: "Wow... that's an interesting choice of snacks for someone who doesn't use his fingers much..." Tails: "No kidding... I wonder if he even has fingers under those gloves..." Knuckles: "As a matter of fact, I don't, my hands are shaped like my gloves so we echidnas can punch better." Sonic: "Really?" Knuckles: "Indeed." Wade: "So um... when does the training start?" Knuckles: "The best start to become an echidna warrior is by first knowing your battleground." Wade: "Okay... well I'm sure you'll love my battleground." said Wade, before he and the aliens went to a bowling alley and most of them were impressed by the sight of it. Knuckles: "This isn't a battleground..." Wade: "Well the quests you're normally go to have much higher stakes, but believe me, this place is like a real battlefield." Tails: "How?" Wade: "Let me show you." said Wade, before he takes a bowling ball and rolls it down the bowling path and knocks down the pins. Knuckles: "Ha, ha!, you smashed those pins without any mercy!, I'm beginning to see your interest in this game." Sonic: "Yeah, it's not baseball, but it seems like a cool sport." Wade: "Yeah... it's a fun game... but there's actually another reason why I love bowling... you see... my dad was one of the best bowlers out there... and he taught me everything I know about bowling..." Tails: "What happened to him?" Wade: "Well... he abandoned me... and my family..." Sonic: "What?!, why would he do that?!" Wade: "Well... he turned out to be a real jerk... he preferred bowling over me and my family... and I was just a little kid when he left..." Tails: "Sorry Wade... I know how it feels to be abandoned by a parent... for that happened to me too..." Sonic: "It's okay bud..." Knuckles: "Odd... why would your foxes of flesh and blood abandon their own cub?" Tails: "Because of my extra tail..." Wade: "You mean your fellow foxes don't have an extra tail like you do?" Tails: "No... they saw me as a freak... along with everyone else in my village of my home planet..." Knuckles: "I am truly sorry to hear that fox... those other foxes have no honor..." suddenly, a Warp ring portal was opened, and out came Agent Mason and Agent Willoughby, who were using either a riffle or gauntlets that were both powered by Knuckles' quills. Sonic: "Uh... who are they?" Wade: "No idea..." Tails: "Guys... I think we're in trouble..." Agent Willoughby: "Oh you don't even know the half of it... little fox, for your powers, along with the others will be ours for the taking." Knuckles: "Fools!, you think you can take my power?!" called out Knuckles, before he runs over to the agents, and Agent Mason stops the echidna with a punch that hits the alien's own fist, and an explosion of red Chaos energy came out. Agent Mason: "Do I look like I need your power?" Agent Willoughby: "What are you talking about?, of course we need his power, that's the whole reason we're here, to get his power, along with the hedgehog's and the fox's power as well." Agent Mason: "I was just trying to make a cool catchphrase." Sonic: "Sorry pal, but Knuckles already did that one... and there's no way you're getting our powers!" called out Sonic, before he uses his speed to knock down Agent Mason to the ground, while Agent Willoughby fires her riffle at the hedgehog, who managed to dodge the shots every time. As for Tails, he was using one of his gadgets to defend himself from the bad agents, only for the agents to damage the gadgets and were ready to capture the fox, only for Sonic to use his speed to knock the agents away. Sonic: "You're not laying a finger on Tails... not on my watch..." Knuckles: "Wade, you must help fight too." Wade: "How?!, I can't fight someone with powers that are the same as yours!" Tails: "Speaking of which... those weapons of theirs... they're powered by Knuckles' quills..." Sonic: "Just like how Robotnik did with one of my quills..." Knuckles: "The fools, as if using my quills would be enough for them to take me down." said Knuckles, before Agent Willoughby pulls out a gun that fired a Warp ring that landed on the ground, turning into a portal that Knuckles fell through, and gets trapped in an energy cage. Sonic: "Knuckles!" Tails: "No!" Agent Willoughby: "Let's get out of here." Agent Mason: "What about the other aliens?" Agent Willoughby: "We'll get them later, right now let's get Knuckles to the boss." said Agent Willoughby, before she and Agent Mason use a warp ring to escape, leaving Wade, Sonic and Tails alone in the bowling alley. Wade: "Oh no... oh no, no, no, no... this can't be happening... they got Knuckles..." Sonic: "We gotta save him!" Wade: "How?" Tails: "I should be able to track down Knuckles' energy signature with my Miles Electric, but I don't know how we'll rescue him once we find him..." Wade: "Well we gotta do something... [seeing the abandoned gauntlets that Agent Mason lost during the battle on the ground] and I think I have a really dumb idea..." said Wade, which made Sonic and Tails have mixed feelings of hope and concern.
