O' C O N N O R🍂

As I smoothly retrieved the fob key from my pocket and inserted it into the ignition, the engine hummed to life, filling the car with a reassuring sense of readiness.

Amidst the mechanical symphony of the vehicle coming to life, a distinct sound of approaching footsteps echoed, signaling the imminent arrival of a familiar presence.

With a knowing smile, I anticipated Kimberly's arrival, a seasoned member of the HR team who had been an integral part of the company since its inception.

Turning around to her failed attempt at startle me with a good-natured chuckle, Kimberly's laughter rang out, breaking the momentary tension and paving the way for a comfortable exchange.

We shared a friendly fist bump, a gesture that solidified our connection, before diving into a casual conversation about the events of our day. However, amidst our light-hearted banter, a subtle shift in Kimberly's demeanor caught my attention.

As she gazed into the distance, a look of intrigue flickered across her features, hinting at a sudden distraction that had captured her focus.

As I turned around, my eyes landed on a woman standing by the fountain at the company's entrance, adding a touch of intrigue to the moment.

Gorgeous might I add.

Kimmy shared that the woman had been waiting there since a few minutes before six, signaling her need for a taxi.

No

"Yuh sure she even ago trust-" I said, instead she giggles walking away in her direction.

Shaking my head I get in the car turning the seat warmers on and warming her seat, that's if she's even coming.

I highly doubt she would.

"My boss said to ask you if you need a ride, it is getting quite late, half past seven to be exact" she says glancing at her watch.

"A good ute man" she reassured realizing my hesitance.

Chuckling I ponder a bit

What are the odds of me getting kidnapped... I mean it is getting quite late.

Agreeing she points to a black car in the distance.

Dialing my father he answers instantly however I hear the crickets and toad singing in the background.
