Ochako's POV
--------------------"Hey, where are you?"
"Headed to the library right now!" Toga's voice happily replied.
"... Can I meet you there?" I mumbled, fearing rejection.
Toga squealed, "Yes, of course, Ochako!"
--------------------
When I arrived, I had to go for a little exploring to find Toga hidden amongst the shelves. She was sitting on the floor reading what looked to be a horror novel. It had a scary cover, showing a vampire sucking a person's blood.
She lifted her head as I took a seat beside her.
"Hey!" She smiled politely, sliding a bookmark in between the two pages she was reading.
"Hey," I smiled back, feeling a faint ping of guilt in my chest.
She lifted a brow, and her smile faded, "Something's wrong."
I shook my head and put up a fake smile.
She placed her book on the floor, leaning closer to me. We were eye-to-eye, and I felt the heat from her body near mine. It made me loosen up, her company making me able to be vulnerable.
I sighed, "My boyfriend just broke up with me.."
Toga's eyes shifted as she leaned back, not saying anything quite yet. I gulped, watching her become visibly uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry," Toga murmured. "I can't imagine how hard that must've been. To love someone and them break your heart. It's strange. They were just supposed to love you in return."
I shakily sighed, leaning against the bookshelf behind me as I stretched out my legs.
"Is it weird that -" Toga sputtered nervously, "I'm happy that your boyfriend left you?"
I looked at her, confused.
Her face was a shade of pink with an awkward smile just watching me.
I giggled, "No, I'm happy too."
We locked eyes for a moment, just enjoying eachothers company. I felt heat rise up to my face as she looked down shyly.
She was so adorable! Her pretty golden eyes, her blonde hair, her soft jawline...
We stayed in the library a while longer, chatting and getting to know each other better. I learned that her favorite color was pink. She was shocked to know that mine was too!
She was very open about the weird interests she had. Well, it's not weird necessarily... But different. I thought she was super cool! And don't even get me started on her smile. I would never admit this, but her smile was the cutest thing I had ever seen!
I wish I had met her sooner. We get along, so we'll.
"It's a shame I didn't meet you in high school. I needed someone like you around." I laughed sheepishly.
She looked up at me, "I feel the same way. But I'm glad we met now. I still need someone like you."
I looked at this girl with nothing more than admiration and respect. She was so sweet and so cool too! What is the chance that she'd be interested in becoming friends with me?!
"Do you have a boyfriend, Toga?" I asked out of curiosity.
She laughed, harder than I expected her to. I couldn't help but laugh with her. She had such a contagious laugh after all.
"Oh no no. I don't like boys like that."
I was shocked. How could a pretty girl like her not have a boyfriend? I was lucky to pull Izuku. I would've never expected Toga to not be in a relationship!
"I hope that's not weird or anything..." Her laughs faded as she scratched the back of her neck anxiously.
"No, no! It's not weird. I'm still trying to figure out if I like boys or not either." I reassured.
She gasped, "Really?"
I nodded swiftly.
She smiled.
I checked the time.
11:43pm
"Do you stay in the dorms?"
I shook my head.
"Neither do I. So I can't call campus police if someone were to be following me." Toga muttered.
I jumped up to my feet, reaching out my hand to her. "I'll walk you home!"
She smiled, taking my hand and pulling herself up. As I began to walk, she took my hand once again, holding it as we walked. I felt a smile creep onto my face as I squeezed her hand tighter and dragged her along.
We walked out of the library and got a few blocks away before she started to lead me to her house. We went through alleyways rather than the streets. It was off-putting to say the least. But regardless, I trusted her.
"It's safer to be in the alleyways at night, trust me." She assured me as we continued down the path.
It was dark, but she used her phone light to show the way.
As we neared her home I noticed that it was an old frat house. She insisted she lived there though, so I walked her to the front door, still hand-in-hand.
She paused for a moment, then phlled me into a hug. "Thank you for walking me home."
I hugged her back, smelling her cherry blossom scented perfume as she pulled away.
"Anytime." I smiled, feeling my heart sputter. "It means a lot to me knowing you got home safely."
