I woke up to an empty bed, which I was incredibly grateful for. I quickly got the phone out of my coat and checked it.

Dad

Have her location I will see you on Saturday. I had to give her more money for her to agree, but we will see you in two days. Saturday night, so we can switch you both easier.

I deleted the message and slid it back into my coat after tuning it off because my battery was getting low.

I grab a change of clothes and go to the bathroom, not without locking the bedroom door and bathroom door for extra caution.

I strip out of my clothes and jump in the shower, washing my hair and body. I was softly singing to myself.

I was washed and hadn't experienced any interruptions. I dry myself quickly and get dressed in the other clothes I brought in. I brush my hair and unblock the door. I glance at the time. I should probably start breakfast, I think. I unlock the bedroom door and walk downstairs. I see one of the maids with a happy birthday ribbon on her chest.

"Happy birthday!" I say it with a smile.

She gives me a shocked expression: "Thank you, miss."

"You're welcome. Do you plan on doing anything?" I ask questioningly.

"No, probably not; I'm trying to earn some extra money for my grandson's band donation." She says it with a fixed smile.

"You are so sweet. I still hope you have a good birthday, though." I say, smiling.

"Thank you, miss. I've got to get back to work." She says

"Wait, I didn't catch your name!" I shout.

"Margaret." She whispers and walks away.

I walk downstairs and see Alexander and his two friends he had over yesterday. Along with a man I've never seen before.

"Emily, baby, you are up. Come join us." Alexander says.

"Okay, would you like me to talk while I cook everyone some breakfast?" I asked, looking at him.

"Se ha distratto, il tuo piano potrebbe funzionare meglio."

{if she is distracted, your plan may work better.}

"If you don't mind," Alexander says to me

"No, not at all," I say opening the fridge.

"What did you want to talk about?" I ask, not liking him.

"I got the lawyer to get the paperwork ready as if anything were to happen to me, you would get my estate. I'd like for you to sigh where the red tape is." He says it simply.

"Okay," I suggest putting the milk and eggs on the counter.

I take the pen in my hand, looking at the foreign words on the paper.

"I don't know what I'm signing," I say, looking at him confused.

"The estate is in Italy, so all the information about the estate will be in Italian." He says he is looking at me with a blank face.

"Oh, okay." I sigh my sister's name repeatedly on the red tape.

"There you go. Anything else?" I ask as I turn my attention back to making breakfast.

Opening up the fridge and grabbing the bacon.

I know there are tortillas in the cabinet. I'll just make very simple breakfast tacos. I think.

"Actually, yes," Alexander says to me.

I look at him as I gather the things I need. "Go on," I state.

"Well, I finally got my background report back on your family. You have a sister, Scarlet, right?" He asked me

I stop in my tracks.

"Yes, why." I am uneasy.

"Well, your dad didn't inform me of her. Unfortunately, my men cannot find her anywhere. I wish to provide a property in Italy that she can do as she pleases. I feel bad about not giving her any money like I did for your family because your dad never mentioned her. Anyway, I feel a debt is owed to her. Do you think you could sigh for her on this paper?" He asks me

"Scarlet wouldn't want that," I say quickly.

"Emily! This is your sister! Let me take care of your family. She didn't get anything from your father." He demands.

I wasn't the type to want money or property. I wasn't sure what to do. If he was under the illusion that I was Emily and expected this behavior, maybe I should.

"Okay," I say, grabbing the pen. Writing my name down on the foreign language paper.

He smiles

"Thank you; you don't know how much this means to me." He writes his name down on the blank lines.

I shrug simply whatever.

The lawyer writes his name down to the side and stalls it before shoving it into his briefcase and saying, "Alright, sir. Goodbye." He walks out quickly.

As I'm cooking, I feel a hand over my waist as I cook. I look around to see Alexander.

"I'm cooking," I say, lightly shoving him away.

He chuckled at my reaction.

"Now, wife, all I'm doing is holding you. Besides, I plan on doing much more than just holding your waist soon." He says to me, breathing down my neck.

"Oh! Before I forget, I got you something."

He says he is getting a small box out of his pocket.

He opens the small box, takes the ring off, and slides it on my finger.

"No matter what you keep this ring on, do you understand?" He asks me

Thinking back to the excuse of saying I lost it, I don't blame him.

"Okay, I understand," I say, turning off the Bruner as soon as the food is done.

I grab the cheese out of the fridge and make myself a taco.

"All yours, boys." I mean sitting down at the bar.

The boys make their plates.

Alexander stops and sets his plate on the bar. Leaning in, he softly places his lips on mine. I kiss back. To not arouse suspicion. He pulls back after a while and smirks. "Thank you, wife. "He says he followed where his two friends were.
