After a couple of movies, I glance at my watch. Growing rather bored in his presence.
"I'll be back," I say getting up and heading to her bedroom. I grab the hidden-phone in one of my coats.
I open the flip phone, checking the notifications. I see one text message. I opened the message.
Dad
Hey, I've found your sister. I regret to inform you that it will take some time to retrieve her; she doesn't want to be found. She took the money and ran. I'll find her soon. Hopefully by this weekend.
I sigh, closing it and sliding it into my coat.
The door opens suddenly.
I quickly closed the drawer.
"Are you alright, Emily?" Alexander asks me questioningly.
"Yeah, I am," I say, with a small smile.
I glance at my watch, trying to change the conversation.
"Dinner?" I ask, looking at my watch.
"Sure." He looks at me, looking at my wrist.
"Where's your ring?" He asks me.
My heart quickens.
I look at my hand. "I'm sorry I lost it."
"What do you mean by you losing it?" He questions
"I took it off, and when I noticed that it was gone, I had no idea where it was. I'm sorry." I said I was coming up with something to cover my ass.
He says, "You shouldn't have taken it off in the first place." He says to me:
"Nothing that can be done now." He says this as he walks out the door, leaving it open for me to follow behind him.
I breathed a sigh of relief. I thought he believed me. My feet shuffled against the ground as I made my way into the kitchen. Following behind him in his shadow.
I look into the living room and notice his friends are gone.
"Just you and I, princess." He says, smirking, sitting at the bar.
My heart drops. I guess I was foolish to believe there wouldn't be alone time with him and me.
I smiled, "Okay," as I began cooking. Feeling his prying eyes on me. Making me nervous. I nicked my finger with the knife I was cutting the food with. A hiss leaves my lips as I pull my hand away from the cutting board.
His face turns to concern.
"Are you alright?" He asked me curiously.
I grab a paper towel and wrap it tightly around my finger.
"I'm fine. I'll just get a bandage so I can finish your dinner." I say this as I turn away from him.
He simply whistles.
Stopping my walking.
"I have a first aid kit in here. Sit down at the bar," he barks as he gets a first aid kit from the cabinet.
He sets it on the bar and opens it.
Grabbing a bandage, he opens the package, sitting it on the bar.
He takes the napkin from my finger. Exams it. Before putting the bandage on it tightly.
"I'll finish the food. Just relax, please." He says as he throws away the trash.
"Okay," I say, indifferent.
He walks over to the sink and washes his hands before jumping in where I left off.
The food was done and plates were made. We sat at the bar and ate.
"This is good." I am complimenting him.
"Well, thank you, Emily. Tomorrow my lawyer is going to be bringing over some paperwork involving some estate in Italy i would like for you to sign. I will be signing the paperwork as well. It is just ensuring that if anything happens to me, my estate will go to you." He says this as he is eating.
I simply nodded, not sure what Emily would say in response.
"Very well. I suppose it is bedtime." He says, grabbing my empty plate and setting it in the sink.
My stomach drops.
Bedtime?! I only hope he means to go to sleep. I could last 3 more days, and I know I can.
"I'm not sleepy quite yet. Why don't you lay down, and I'll join you later when I'm more sleepy?" I try to be convincing.
My eyes are no doubt tired-looking. The truth is, all the events made me exhausted. I planned on sleeping on the couch and telling him, Oh no, it was an accident. But it seems like Alexander had other plans.
"Come on, Emily. It's late. You look so sleepy. Let's just lay down. I know you said that you do not feel well, so I will respect that. So come on, let's go to bed." He says he is holding his hand out for me while his words speak one thing, his eyes daring me not to listen to him. I hesitated before putting my hand softly in his. He walked out of the kitchen, turning the light off, before strolling to his bedroom.
He opens the door, and it squeaks slightly as we slip into the room. He turns on the light. Before taking his shirt off. I notice tattoos and scars that poetically line his body. The scars make him appear even more dangerous.
He slips his bottoms off, leaving him in his underwear.
I walk to the bathroom, get my toothbrush and toothpaste, and begin brushing my teeth. Following behind me is Alexander. I finish brushing my teeth before he peeks from the door.
Shaking his head.
"On the other side, I sleep closest to the door." He says that before spitting the toothpaste out and walking into the bedroom, he slips on the opposite side and turns the nightlight off. I move to the opposite side, as far away as possible. Making sure our bodies aren't touching.
Alexander places his hand on my waist, pulling my body close to his. I felt his proximity a heat on my body.
His breath was against my neck. His thudding of his heart. His soft breathing.
"Sleep, Emily. You need to rest. You look exhausted." He says this softly, running his hand through my hair.
Repeatedly, until sleep engulfed me quickly.
