Seven
Everything felt different.
I felt different.
The butterflies hadn't stopped dancing around in my stomach since Ambrose found me down in my room.
The small voice in the back of my mind was practically purring with delight at the fact that I was finally starting to accept Ambrose as my mate.
But despite all the happiness coursing through my body, I couldn't stop noticing the other wolves' eyes following my every move as Five led me through floors of the pack house that I had never seen.
Just like Eleven, Five was also assigned to clean the upper floors where guests would stay.
"It's just around the next corner," she said softly as we climbed another flight of stairs. "The King requested that I take you to a new room instead of the one you stayed in with him last night."
My cheeks burned at the mention of what had happened last night. There was no doubt that Five believed that something more than simply lying beside Ambrose took place in that bedroom.
"It's fine," I managed to choke out, doing my best to push down my own embarrassment. "I've just never been up here before. It's beautiful."
It really was.
These hallways were nothing like the lower floors of the pack house that I spent my days cleaning and cooking in. Instead of exposed brick and muddy footprints, the floors up here were white marble, so shiny that I could see my own reflection staring back up at me. The windows were tall and perfectly clear, and there wasn't a speck of dust that I could see anywhere.
No wonder Five and Eleven had some of the longest days out of any of us Omegas.
"Madam Olympia is extra strict about cleaning," Five said. "When we have any wolves visiting, she makes us spend hours scrubbing and waxing the marble."
I couldn't stop myself from cringing at her words. I couldn't even begin to count the number of hours I'd spent on my hands and knees scrubbing the brick floors downstairs after the pack warriors tracked mud into the house during the fall.
"It's this one." Five pushed open a dark wood door at the end of the hallway.
The room was beautiful.
There was a large bed covered in white sheets and a plush, green blanket that reminded me of Ambrose's eyes.
Compared to my bedroom downstairs, this one had to be ten times the size.
"Eleven just went to get you some clothes." Five's voice pulled me away from my thoughts. "But the Alpha King requested her to draw you a bath first."
A bath? No one had ever drawn me a bath before...
I followed the sound of Five's voice to the connected bathroom. She was leaning over, sprinkling some sort of salts into the bath.
Almost as if sensing my confusion, she started speaking again.
"These are to help you relax," she hummed, sprinkling another handful of the salts in my bath. "The Alpha King wanted you to be as relaxed and comfortable as possible."
My heart fluttered at the mention of Ambrose.
My mate. The other half of my soul.
I didn't think that I would ever get used to knowing that.
***
I never wanted to leave the bath. Whatever Eleven and Five had put in had nearly put me to sleep.
