Seven

I had never been this far away from the Blood Moon Pack before, and with each step forward across the rocky forest ground I grew farther and farther away from the place I've always called home.

I could feel something deep inside of me snap and break into tiny pieces when we finally crossed over the East border.

I rubbed a hand across my chest, trying to get rid of this feeling.

"It's your bond," Silas said, looking down at me.

I frowned at him in confusion. What bond was he talking about? The only bond I had was my mate bond with Ambrose.

"Your pack bond," Silas clarified, reading the confusion covering my face. "You've left the Blood Moon pack with no intentions of ever coming back, the bond that your Alpha gave you when you were born into the pack is gone now."

So it was official. I was no longer a member of the Blood Moon Pack.

I was officially a rouge.

Would I need to be sworn in as a new pack member in the Royal Pack? Would Ambrose do it? Would he still want me after everything? Did he regret finding me as his mate now?

My heart clenched painfully in my chest. Whether it was from my pack bond breaking or realizing I was officially a rouge, I wasn't sure. All I knew was that my heart was hurting.

I was too lost in my thoughts to notice the large pile of sticks, half-covered by leaves and moss, on the forest floor until I tripped right over it, twisting my ankle and landing face-first in a heap.

"Little One!" Ambrose was at my side in a second.

He quickly pulled me upright, being careful to help me over the sticks. "Are you alright? Are you hurt? What happened?"

"I'm fine," I managed to get out as Ambrose scanned me up and down for any injuries. "I just tripped."

Ok, now I was embarrassed.

Werewolves were known for their agility and grace, we barely ever got injured or hurt, and when we did, we always healed fast.

But I was an Omega. And Omega's didn't have the same healing speed as a normal wolf with Gamma, Beta, Alpha, or warrior blood.

"You're not fine, Little One." My mate frowned at me. "You're hurt."

"I'm fine," I repeated.

I didn't want to look weak in front of Ambrose, and especially not in front of Silas. The last thing that I wanted was for anyone in the Royal pack to think that I was weak and couldn't manage myself.

Wordlessly Silas knelt down in front of me, shrugging off the leather sack on his pack and reached inside of it.

"I'm fine," I said for the third time. "Let's keep moving forward."

I had dealt with far more injuries than I could even remember, a twisted ankle was nothing. Gamma Thomas's punishments...

I shuttered just thinking about the Blood Moon pack and the way I was treated.

But you'll never have to go back there again, that little voice in the back of my mind spoke up. Ambrose will never let you get hurt again. He's your mate, your protector, the other half of your soul.

Silas pulled out a long strip of fabric and looked up at me. "Let me wrap it please, Luna. We still have a ways to go before we meet up with the Royal pack warriors and I don't want your ankle to get worse."

Luna.

The name echoed in my mind.

Luna. Silas had called me Luna.
