transferring to a new school was probably one of the worst things that could happen to a student.

everyone already found their friends, where they sat at lunch, what teachers they get along with, and who they were in the school environment.

y/n didn't know the first thing when it came to stuff like that.

he used to have a friend group when he was younger, around seven or eight, but after the death of his father, he kind of shut down and avoided anyone who tried to talk to him.

so, he guessed he's to blame for his loneliness and lack of social skills. but he didn't think he was unapproachable. and when he realized that someone actually did need friends, he tried everything to make sure he had people around him.

he wandered through the hallways, glancing at the groups of friends who seemed so comfortable with each other. the cliques were already established, and y/n felt like an outsider looking in through a foggy window.

he entered his class and the teacher introduced him to the class with a brief, "everyone, this is l/n y/n, he's new, so make him feel welcome."

the teacher's words were met with polite nods and a few curious glances, but no one made an effort to approach him.

the only available seat was one in the back of the classroom near the window, which made the chance of getting noticed, dwindle.

he kind of hopped someone around him would turn their heads and introduce themselves, but no one did. it got him a bit upset, even a little mad, but he had to repeat to himself he is going to make friends

it would just take some time. he had to be patient.

but he never liked being patient.

the entire day, he spent alone. all classes, lunch, breaks, no one came up to him. well, maybe no one noticed him yet.

it made him a little sad, but he tried to brush it off and say that the next day it would be better.

y/n carefully placed another glow-in-the-dark stars onto his ceiling. he stepped down from the stool he was balancing on to admire his handiwork.

some may call him childish, because once many kids reached his age, they have long since outgrown things such as these. stuffed animals and night lights alike, y/n technically only had one plush which wasn't even an animal, it was a realistic plush of a starfish. some may call him childish, but he didn't care.

he was so lost in thought when a door creaked open. he turned his head toward his bedroom door, hearing the sounds of shuffling from the front of the house.
