y/n's mom stood outside his bedroom door early in the morning, preparing to wake him for school as she did every day.
she raised her hand to knock gently when suddenly, the door creaked open, revealing a surprising sight.
there stood y/n, already washed up and dressed for the day, a bright smile lighting up his face. he looked more awake and cheerful than she had seen him in a long time.
his eyes were bright, his hair looked healthier, she's noticed that his movements didn't seem so robotic lately, but she didn't know how much he's changed in just the span of a couple of months.
"good morning, mom." y/n greeted with a smile, reaching over and grabbing his school bag.
his mom blinked in shock, momentarily speechless at the unexpected sight. "you're up early." she managed to say, her surprise evident in her voice.
"yeah, i woke up feeling great." y/n said, a hint of excitement in his tone. "did you make me lunch?"
"did i-... did i make you... lunch? you're asking me?"
"yeah? did you not? that's fine mom, i can always get something from the cafeteria."
"the cafeteria!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide, staring at him, still processing the sudden change in her son.
y/n had struggled with mornings for a while, often waking up groggy and reluctant to start the day. but here he was, vibrant and eager, and asking for food?
she blinked then shook her head. "uh, yes, i did," she replied, finally finding her voice. "it's in the kitchen."
"awesome, thanks." y/n grinned and dashed past her towards the kitchen, humming a tune under his breath.
she watched him go, her heart swelling with happiness and relief. she had worried about him lately, noticing how withdrawn he had become. seeing him like this, so full of life and energy again, was like a weight lifting off her shoulders.
as y/n found his lunch and packed it in his bag his mom leaned against the doorway, a soft smile on her face.
maybe things were finally looking up for her son, and she couldn't be more grateful.
"have a great day at school." she called out, her voice filled with warmth. usually those words meant nothing to y/n and he would just nod in response, but instead...
he turned to her, his smile widening. "i will!"
with that, he put on his shoes and headed out the door, leaving his mom standing in the kitchen, her heart brimming with pride and joy.

y/n and noya laid on the floor of y/n's living room, surrounded by various board games they had pulled out for their evening together.
