being y/n's friend was actually nice.
the friendship itself was nice, really nice, but, y/n was better.
y/n was kind, like, actually so kind it hurt. you just needed to get him to trust you to see it, and nishinoya saw it. y/n trusted him.
y/n was smart. it wasn't just about book smarts or academics, though he was in class 5. he had the ability to think critically, to analyze situations from multiple angles, and to come up with solutions.
y/n was beautiful. wide e/c eyes, a warm and soft smile, height that suit him just right. he was beautiful on the inside too.
it made nishinoya sick.

tanaka was having too much fun with this. that much was obvious when he said to nishinoya a couple weeks after nishinoya got y/n to say that they are friends, "i've got another bet for you."
nishinoya regretted the next thing he would say.
"another? like what?"
"this one's a big one. i'll give you 4000 yen if you get l/n to fall for you romantically in a month."
...
did he hear him right?
no. there was no way tanaka actually said that.
"make y/n fall for me? are you serious?"
tanaka nodded quickly.
oh, my god he actually said that.
"isn't that... messed up?" nishinoya said, trying to subtly get tanaka to change his mind. "plus, he's straight. i'm straight and i love kiyoko! there's no way that's actually possible!"
"come on, noya, it's just a harmless bet. besides, i heard from the grapevine that he actually is gay. he doesn't have to know and you're getting money!"
"i don't know..."
"relax. you're charming enough to win anyone over, right?"
nishinoya sighed, torn between his morals and the prospect of winning big and having fun.
after trying to earn y/n's trust, nishinoya had already won. was he really going to risk it for trying to get y/n fall for him?
after a moment of hesitation, he finally gave in. "okay. but then this is it! you're not making a bet on me trying to get him to... propose or anything. i won't take it too far."
