The news of the great queen Aemma's death had saddened the whole realm. People are gathered for Aemma and Baelon's funeral. Both are wrapped in cloth on pyres. Syrax sits on a hill at the edge of the field. All of them, trying their best to be strong. King Viserys was devastated, Princess Rhaenyra silently crying, and Princess Alicendria trying her best to keep a straight face, as everyone lowered their head as a sign of respect to the late queen.

Daemon walks over to Rhaenyra as he whisper on her ear. "They're waiting for you" Daemon whispered to his niece. "I wonder if, during those few hours my brother lived, my father finally found happiness." Rhaenyra told her uncle not bothering to look at him. "Your father needs you more now than he ever has." Daemon said. "I will never be a son." Rhaenyra said as she stepped forward. Syrax watches her. Rhaenyra attempts to speak, but the word gets caught in her throat. She takes a look back at her father, who doesn't return the look. "Dracarys." Rhaenyra said as Syrax crawled forward and lit the funeral pyres.

Viserys entered the council with Alicendria, Lord Commander, and Ser Farris. The councillors rise. Viserys sat at the head of the table as Alicendria sat at hers. Ser Ryam places the king's council marble down and the others sit.

"Where's Rhaenyra?" Viserys asked.

"Your Grace. This is the last thing any of us wish to discuss at this dark hour, but I consider the matter urgent." Otto said ignoring the king's question about his daughter's absences.

"What matter?" Viserys' asked looking so uninterested because he's grieving over his dead wife and son.

"That of your succession. These recent tragedies have left you without an obvious heir." Otto said. Corlys turns around from the wine table.
