As night fell and nocturnal animals emerged from their burrows, Flamefoot stayed awake and waited. He watched as Hawkclaw left camp and began to follow him.

Flamefoot padded along silently, knowing if he took a wrong step he would be in trouble. So he followed the deputy closely and carefully, prowling in the shadows.

Hawkclaw padded to the NightClan border. Flamefoot watched as two NightClan warriors emerged from the shadows. They began talking to Hawkclaw in hushed tones.

"Soon we will strike StormClan and RainClan, with the help of our allies NightClan will be victorious!" whispered the first warrior.

"In a few sunrises we will attack! The Darkstar Alliance will never give up, have we gathered any more information?" the second warrior asked.

"Yes, the clan has two new trainees, but they are not from our clan. StormClan is still weak from the sickness last Snow Fall, and they are busy chasing off pumas and other predators to notice me sneak off," Hawkclaw growled.

"Good, that will be the best time to attack them," the first warrior meowed. "We'll strike when the least expect it, next moon when they will be most vulnerable."

Flamefoot's heart pounded, he turned and sprinted back to camp. Trying to process what he had jsut discovered.
