Not So Loved
Chapter 33
Maeve is in the hospital

Noah

"Holy shit," Allie breathes, her hand coming up to cup her mouth.

I sit up straighter on the couch and move closer towards her, searching her, thinking she's about to have a panic attack-something that she hasn't had in months. "What? Are you okay? What's wrong?"

"No, no, I'm fine. It's...Maeve." Her voice trembles and she glances down towards Liam who's sleeping in her lap.

I'm fucking confused. "Maeve? What's wrong with Maeve?"

"She's in the hospital...her dad. Oh god. Cam just texted the group," She tilts the phone my way so I can read the message off her screen and immediately tense.

Holy shit. How the hell could a father do that to their child? Beat the shit out of them and think it's okay? "Fuck. How is she?"

Allie stays silent, staring blankly at her phone. My hand goes up to cup her jaw and I smile softly when she finally draws her eyes to mine. "Hey. She'll be okay. I'll go to the hospital now and see what I can do to help, okay? You stay here with Liam."

"Okay," Her voice is weak and barely there, "Let me know if I can bring anything for them? Extra change of clothes, food, and tell Rhys we'll watch Liam however long is needed."

I love the way she melts into me when I kiss her forehead and make sure Liam's not putting too much pressure on her before I leave.

The ride to the hospital is long due to traffic but I'm finally able to park and venture through the halls until I find Maeve's room number.

Rhys is standing there, pacing back and fourth so much he could wear a hole into the ground, his hands covered with blood he's attempting to pick off with shaky hands.

Mike and Cam are both there, watching their assistant captain with worried expressions. Rhys has tears tracking down his face and I cringe when his head dips. He's giving up without even realizing.

"Maeve is going to wake up. And she's going to be just fine because when she does wake up, you're going to be waiting there for her just like you've been doing all these years." I tell him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"And if you keep blaming yourself for this-which I know you have been-than you're a bigger idiot thank I thought you were," I try to say as gently as I can but it's hard when I'm talking to someone other than Allie.

Rhys almost laughs. Almost. "I'll keep that in mind," He searches behind me and down the long white hall, "Liam? Where's Liam?"

"Liam is perfectly fine. He's still at my apartment with Allie, watching Thomas The Train," I assure calmly.

Cam pulls Rhys into a hug, clearing my throat when a nurse heads for our direction, the nurses face neutral as he speaks.

"If you could follow me, I'll take you up to see Ms. Foster. We've put her up in the ICU but by tomorrow, we're hopeful that she'll be moved to her own room."

Rhys takes a shuddering breath. "Well? What happened? Is she gonna be alright?"

The nurse nods sharply, looking hopeful. "Ms. Foster will make a speedy recovery. Your friends will have to wait down here since only two people can up at a time unless someone would like to come with you."
