Soap's POV:

The morning air was cool and crisp, the early sun casting long shadows across the camp. I stretched, the stiffness from the night's sleep melting away, and got dressed quickly. The memory of last night's conversation with Ghost lingered in my mind, a mix of warmth and tension that I couldn't shake.

We gathered in the makeshift briefing area, the team assembling with the usual blend of discipline and casual banter. Captain Price stood at the front, his presence commanding respect as always. Ghost was already there, standing off to the side, his gaze scanning the room. I took my place across from him, trying to keep my focus on the task at hand.

Price cleared his throat, drawing everyone's attention. "Alright, listen up. We've got a few weeks before our next mission. Intel suggests the target is on the move, but we don't have a clear location yet. That means we're going to use this time to train and prepare. We need to be at our best when the time comes."

He glanced around the room, making sure he had everyone's attention. "We'll be running drills, sharpening our skills, and staying on top of our gear. I don't want any surprises when we're out there. Understood?"

A chorus of affirmatives filled the air. I nodded along with the rest, but my attention was drawn to Ghost. He stood with his arms crossed, his expression serious and focused. I couldn't help but let my gaze linger on him, tracing the lines of his figure and the intensity in his eyes.

Price continued, outlining the specifics of our training regimen. My mind wandered, the words fading into the background as I found myself lost in thoughts of Ghost. The way he moved, the way he spoke—everything about him was magnetic. The tension between us was almost palpable, a silent current that flowed just beneath the surface.

I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't realize I was staring until Ghost's eyes met mine. The connection was electric, a jolt that sent my heart racing. His expression flickered with something unreadable, and for a moment, neither of us looked away. The room seemed to shrink, the noise of the meeting fading as the world narrowed to just the two of us.

Then, as quickly as it had happened, I broke the gaze, my face heating with embarrassment. I tried to focus on Price's words, but the intensity of the moment lingered, leaving me flustered and off-balance.

Price finished his briefing with a nod. "Alright, that's it. Get to your stations and start prepping. We've got a lot of work to do."

The team dispersed, heading off to their respective tasks. I lingered for a moment, gathering my thoughts, before heading towards the training area. Ghost fell into step beside me, the silence between us heavy with unspoken words.

"You alright, Soap?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.

I nodded, not trusting myself to speak. My mind was a whirl of emotions, the tension between us a constant, unyielding presence.

Ghost stopped, turning to face me. His eyes searched mine, and I could see the worry there. "You seemed distracted during the briefing."

I swallowed hard, trying to find my voice. "Just... a lot on my mind."

He nodded slowly, his gaze still holding mine. "If you need to talk, I'm here."

The offer was genuine, but it only made the tension worse. I forced a smile, trying to play it off. "Thanks, man. I appreciate it."

He hesitated, then nodded and turned to leave. As he walked away, I couldn't help but watch him, the weight of my feelings pressing down on me. The weeks of training ahead seemed daunting, not because of the physical demands, but because of the constant presence of Ghost and the tension that simmered between us.

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the days to come. Whatever happened, I would face it head-on. For now, all I could do was focus on the mission and try to keep my feelings in check. But as I headed to the training area, I couldn't shake the image of Ghost's eyes, the intensity of his gaze, and the undeniable connection that bound us together.
