"Fuck my head hurts," I groaned slumping into the seat across from Charles and Bella, the large sunnies propped on my nose doing their best attempt at hiding the enormous bags developing under my eyes. With each second passing my head pounded and a queasy feeling had settled in my stomach the moment I'd awoken this morning.
"Same," Bella grumbled pulling her wide brimmed hat further down to shield her eyes from the beaming sun rays.
"Un café con leche," the waitress spoke placing my steaming coffee down.
"Sí Gracias," I mustered up a smile and wrapped my slightly shaking hands around the warm mug.
"You two will never learn your lesson will you?" Charles asked grinning, clearly pleased to see the both of us incredibly hungover.
"Did you get home alright Emi?" Bella asked sipping her orange juice.
"I honestly don't remember, it's all a bit of a blur after a certain point," I said thinking back on the night. The last thing I vividly remember was Lando DJ'ing, and the rather foggy memory of me smacking my head against the coffee table last night which resulted in a bruise forming on my forehead. I can't entirely remember how it happened all I remember is it hurting like a bitch. The conversation shifted towards what the day held for all of us. Charles and I's schedules jam packed with media commitments, Bella just happy she was allowed to tag alone to spend more time with her long distance boyfriend.
The idea of cameras shoved in my face all day made my stomach feel even worse than it currently was. It was as though the universe could sense my inner self battling to hold down vile at the thought of a chaotic day, a text pinged on my phone.
Jen Are you with Charles?
Emilia Yeah, what's up?
Jen Been a mix up with schedule, can you two be ready for pickup in an hour?
Emilia 👍🏼
The weather was intensely hot as we walked through the paddock led by Jen who was tapping aggressively away at her phone. Bella walked beside Charles marvelling at the bustling environment of formula one, it had been a far too long while since she'd been to a race weekend. The girls excitement was clear as day. My hangover had thankfully eased an immense amount, the second shower and a touch up of makeup doing wonders. Look good feel good was what I was attempting to gaslight myself into believing today. Although the purple bruise inking into my forehead kind of defeated the purpose. Unfortunately no amount of concealer would erase it entirely.
Charles and I had already finished one shoot for the Ferrari social media team, it was a simple game of two truths one lie. I may have been cheating with the help of Isi as she stood behind the camera subtly nodding when Charles spoke the lie. He was furious when Bella broke it to him after filming had ended. I personally thought it was hilarious.
