"Isabella!" I whisper yelled into my phone when the line connected after a few rings.
"Heyy you're still there?! That's a good sign!" Bella cheered on the other side of the phone, "Why are you calling me when your hot dates waiting!" she laughed.
"Oh stop it, I'm just getting drinks calm down, and stop saying weird things like it's freaking me out!"
"You're getting another round?! Charles did you hear that!" She yelled loudly, I could hear a muffled gasp in the background on her side. I rolled my eyes dramatically leaning against the bar when the bartender approached me almost instantly.
I pulled the phone from my ear quickly, "two vodka lime and soda's please," I smiled at the young woman. "Well I'm already half pissed so I couldn't just go home!" I pryed open my bag, holding my phone to my ear with my shoulder. I pulled out the small bottle of perfume spritzing a bit on myself and re applying my lipstick.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night sweetie," I could hear the grin in her tone, "are you at least having a bit of fun?" she asked.
"I wouldn't say I'm having fun but I'm also not having an awful time," I said watching the woman prepare our drinks. "He's getting progressively more chatty the more he drinks it's freaky."
"That's good Emi!"
"Yeah yeah whatever, I was just calling to tell you I'm still alive and we haven't strangled each other yet," the two short glasses were placed in front of me along with an eftpos machine. The young woman smiled at me as I taped the flashy gold card against the screen, I gave her a returning smile and nod in thanks for the beverages.
"Oh you would like to be strangl-"
"Isabella!" I yelled cutting her off, "Okay thats enough I'm hanging up!"
The girl laughed on the opposite end of the phone, "bye love you!"
"Yeah yeah love you too," I groaned hanging up the phone and shoving it back into my bag.
"How'd you go?" Lando asked as I weaselled my way back atop my seat. I'd only then noticed how busy the place had gotten, bodies filled every space even fairly close to our corner table.
I hummed sliding his drink to him, "fine... thanks for this by the way," I said as I handed him back his shiny gold card. "It feels weird being here," the words tumbled from my mouth.
"In what way?" he asked facing me.
"Well in many ways," I shrugged.
"Like...?" He waved his hand gesturing me to go on, my cheeks warming feeling rather embarrassed at the revelation that my words had been spoken aloud. I think it best I give up alcohol for a while, it seems I only get myself into trouble.
