Round 2 Belgium - Qualifying

"Head down kid, it's all you now," Antonio called through the earpiece. I felt good, the vibrations of the car radiating through my body. Adrenaline, excitement, danger... it bled through me and god did it feel good. The last corner was approaching, I felt faster than I'd ever felt in my life. These F1 cars were seriously no joke. But this Ferrari was something else, maybe it was the bias Italian in me but the wheel felt like it was moulded specifically for my hands.

"How did I go Antonio..." I said clutching the wheel desperately. The line was silent for a few moments, a few devastatingly nerve racking moments.

"P4 Emilia, P4."

"Holy fuck..."

"Good job kid."

The high from the qualifiers had died down leaving me with a sense of impending doom. What if I couldn't match my place in the race tomorrow? Of course I wouldn't admit it to anyone else but the doubts had crept in after round one, was it truly just beginners luck? My rise through F3 and F2 had happened so quickly, before I knew it I cracked this deal with Ferrari... what if all of that was just luck. Anxiety gnawed at my bones whilst I sat in the slightly uncomfortable chair besides Charles. The meeting had dragged on as we were run through strategies for tomorrows race.

"You'll have Hamilton and Norris behind you Emilia, it'll be difficult with the two of them behind but just don't panic," Antonio said nodding his head whilst scribbling on the white board in front of us.

"Hold on Norris is behind me?" I asked. His 2023 season had been insanely impressive his dramatic turn around in skills and points had everyones interests piqued, which is exactly why everyone expected great things from him this season.

"He qualified sixth, messed up one of the first corners pretty badly," Charles who had qualified second behind Max now spoke up.

"Yikes can only imagine the tantrum he's throwing right about now," I felt oddly satisfied at the news of him messing up which landed him two spots behind me.

"We'll have to keep an eye out for him tomorrow, he's always so unpredictable starting further down the grid," Charles spoke earning an understanding nod from me.

Race Day

"And it's lights out and away we go," the commentator yelled.

...

"Leclerc manages to overtake Verstappen on the first corner, although Verstappen isn't letting up without a fight!"

...

"Lap nine and it seems Norris is finally fighting it out with Hamilton, hot on his trail... OH Norris goes for the overtake... and he succeeds! Norris in fifth barreling towards Adamoli in fourth!"

...

"Adamoli defending her fourth position tightly, Norris can't seem to get a break!"
