Owen
Our faces were mere inches apart. She must not have realized it, I can feel her breath on my chest through my thin white shirt. My hand is still gripping her arm.
"What is it?" She asks as she turns to face me. Her eyes are beautiful.
"Here, let's play a game." I say dragging her to the lounge. Andrew, Cooper, and Lance are playing pool while Mathew and one of his hookups are setting up for beer pong.
"Hey, do you need two players?" I ask hoping to loosen her up.
"Yeah, sure." The girl says. I pull her closer and lean down to whisper in her ear:
"Do you want to play?" I say.
"Sure."
"Wait, only if we make a deal."
"And what are the conditions to this deal?" she says with a smirk.
"If I win, you tell me your name and give me your number."
"And what if i win?"
"Hmm i haven't thought about it, how about you chose."
"Deal." We shake on it.
*****
"GOD DAMMIT!!" I shout as she wins the last round of the game. I throw my hands up and ruffle my hair.
"YES!!" She shouts as she turns around and hugs Vivian Andrews, I don't even know what to call her.
"Congrats on your win, so what did you win?"
"I win ... .a date. You take me out on a date under my conditions and we get to know each other better."
"Deal."
We shake hands for the second time tonight and once again I feel a spark travel from my hand down to the base of my spine. She pulls away first. The warmth from her hand leaves mine ever so quick.
"So, I get to take you out on a date, huh?"
"Ehh, maybe." She says laughing, I love the way she smiles. It's contagious because one second later I'm smiling too.
"Hey, you okay?" She smiles shyly and her eyes dart around the room.
"I'm fine."
"Can I show you something?" I say stepping towards her until I can feel her breath against my body. She gasps. Her eyes turn dark. I push a strand of hair out of her face and tuck it behind her ear. She steps backwards. I step forward.
It's like we're performing a dance. Backwards, forwards. Again and again. Finally her back hits the wall and I stop. I'm definitely drunk but I don't care anymore. I hope I'm not upsetting her.
"Owen, What are you doing?"
"Keeping what's mine."
"Yours?" She questions. God, she is fiesty.
"Mine." I say possessively.
"Owen! My man, how have you been? I haven't seen you since you left to join the hockey team." Alex said.
Alex and I went to highschool together back in my hometown. I haven't seen him in about a year. I guess he did get selected, he was trying out for multiple basketball teams for college. Alex is also a dick. The way Alex is looking at my grocery girl is making me want to punch him. She looks nervous. She slightly shifted to where she is behind me and out of his view.
"Wow! Sophia, I don't get a hug?" Alex shouts.
Sophia? That must be her name. Sophia...I love how it sounds.
"Oh, um sorry Alex." She moves slightly, stepping out from behind me. He immediately goes in for a hug and when she leans back out of his hug, I think my forehead vein visibly pops. I push him back away from her. This time moving her to the other side of me.
"Dude, I was just giving her a hug! Back off."
"I don't think she wants a hug." I am seething. How dare he think he can put his hands on what is mine...well what is going to be mine soon.
"She can tell me that herself." God, he is really pissing me off.
"Owen, can we go?" Sophia is visibly shaking.
"Oh look, the great Owen Clark needs a little girl to save him now." That did it.
"One sec." I said to Sophia before I turned around and hit him with a right hook. He had crossed the line. I couldn't take him talking about her like that.
"Oh my god!" I keep punching him. Eventually he gets fed up and retaliates. He swings at my face, and my nose cracks.
Soph tries to split us up, screaming for help, and a crowd forms. People start to record on their phones, but I don't care.
Alex really doesn't know how to fight, and he just scratches at my face while on the ground below me. I bash his head into the concrete floor, before I feel hands on my shoulders and sides, yanking me off of him.
"What the fuck is your deal man?!" Andrew screams in my face, not letting me go.
"He was saying shit about Sophia!"
"Okay, but that doesn't mean you can swing on him."
"Whatever." I say as I walk away. I'm fed up with people.
