The rhythmic beeps from the monitors was filling the room, while Aditya was lied motionless on the bed. Eyes closed, an oxygen mask covering his mouth and nose. Apart from the soft hums of the ventilators everything was silent.
Outside the ICU those guilty amber eyes were still hooked to him from the glass separation.
Unlike the room that women's mind was filled with noises of numerous voices. Pain, worry, shame all making her manic. And over all these the strongest and loudest voice was of guilt.
The man who had always stood firm to fought for everyone's injustice without loosing, is now himself lying motionless, lost his own battle of injustice.
That women who have self verdicted her punishment of being his slave for his forgiveness broke again looking at her husband, the living proof of her unforgivable sin.
"Ragini! Ragini!" A voice pulled her out of her blue.
She turned to face a horror sticken JK.
"Be the strong women Ragini," he took a deep breath. "Be the woman I had saw that night. The woman who had refused to bow to her death."
She closed her eyes letting her tears fall from her eyes. She was not anymore that women.
JK sighed with a hint of relief seeing the slightest movement in her.
It funny how the broken powerless women had scared that mafia from his core. Whole night she was standing and staring at Aditya motionlessly as if she is lifeless, as if that women is not alive anymore.
"I am not that same women." Her voice shivered.
"Wh..at hav..e I ma..de him!" Her throat tightened. A invisible rope hardened the hold.
JK glanced at Aditya. "This is how it had to be."
She sniffed. "My Adi is strong.."
"Strong?!" He cutted her in between. "You expect him to be strong when you made him the other man in his own love story." He chuckled humorlessly, face remained firm yet compassionate.
Her chin wobbled. The words striked her in her heart. It beated painfully in her chest.
"I should die." She whispered her voice hoarse.
"Death?" Jk snapped. "Such a easy punishment." JK'S expression unreadable.
"Dieing is very easy Ragini. It is hard to live swallowing your gulit every moment." He whispered.
She inhaled deeply, trying to control her trembling breaths.
Indeed she didn't deserve such a easy death. She deserves to be tormented. A gut wrenching pain.
"I am going to do the same. I will hand over my body, my soul everything to my Adi. I will happily hug every torment he will give me for breaking his heart." Her voice trembled in shame.
"And what about my bestfriend?" He asked in low menacingly cold voice.
"What about breaking of Vansh's heart?"
Ragini pushed her lips between her teeths controlling the storm beneath her.
"He doesn't deserve a women like me." Her voice broke.
"He deserves a .....loyal woman." She sniffed.
"Don't worry he will forget me." Her own words slicing her heart.
"He will die...."
"Dil tutne se kabhi koi marta nahi." She assured herself.
(No one ever dies from a broken heart.)
"Hnn magar pehle ki tarah zinda bhi nahi rehta." Her words fall slient. Her eyes dropped with a tear, unable to meet his eyes. How many people's life did she destroy?
(Violated but not alive like before.)
JK turned to leave a shameful but paused at the doorway. "Don't leave him today. Today is his birthday Ragini. Don't let him hate another good day of his life." His voice dropped.
He looked at her over his shoulder. "Please
... I beg."He walked out leaving a guilty Ragini collapsing on the sterile floor. Sobs buried in her hand.
____________________________________________The building of VR Enterprise was high devoid by the external world. The glass walls were high ramparts for any external emotions. All these years Vansh had restricted all the human emotions to even come near the ramparts. Vansh Raguvanshi only spoke business, blood and money.
Like any other 12 pm night he was in his office. The same office, same coffee, similar acrid scent of tobacco lingering in the air. But then again nothing was same.
Vansh was nowhere close to the image the whole world knew. His charcoal shirt ruffled, hairs uneven, tie hung loose while shirt was unbuttoned. His eyes painted red. A cigarette clutched between his fingers.
The room was silent, only broken occasionally deep breaths were audible, as if each breath carried a fragment of pain.
Kehte hai mohabbat gunah hai, Kash koi rok le yeh gunah karne se pehle.
(It is said that love is a crime, wish someone would stop people before committing this crime.)
Vansh took some steps and stood infront of the vast window. The world outside moved on indifferent to the turmoil that raged within the walls.
This was the empire he had created with power, money and blood. He was the king of this empire. But often kings are fated to be lonely.
There was not a single thing in the world he couldn't get yet he could never get that one person he needs.
He looked above the sky. "You are really making me pay." He whispered.
All the cars, money, power all, he could sacrifice these all in a blink just for that one person.
He took another puff. The memories of her flooded in his mind, unbidden and relentless. Her smile, her face, the way she looked at him.
You should go back.
Her words echoed in his ears. She is going to leave him.
He won't hold her back because at the end her smile is more precious to him than his own heart. He could kill or even die to keep that smile on her face.
"I will let her go for her happiness even if it makes me a living corpse." He said to himself.
He was a man who had everything, yet at this moment he felt like he had nothing.
