First place Turning Tides, by laurendoubleu
Turning Tides uses the occasional spark of quirky humor and lovely romantic interactions without Malia ever knowing it while also maintaining heavy doses of sober reality with how she found herself in this new situation. World-building, pacing, prose, and character-building are all incredibly strong, and this was an overall delight to read. I very much love how Malia's mind works, and I can't wait to see how she fares going forward!

The rich imagination of this world mixed with the ever-mounting tension is truly brilliant. Not only do we have a bleak situation contrasted with an established romantic relationship, but we have so much lore and teasing little tidbits amping up the suspense. I cannot wait to see what happens next, and what the burials and hearts are all leading to!

An incredible riot with rich characters and a wonderful plot. The voice of this narrative is something relaxing yet hilarious, so you can't relax for long before something else happens that you didn't expect! I will love to see what happens to the boys next, as well as see them grow on the page!
