First Place Winner

Sikander, Don't Die Shivran86

Sikander has always fascinated me, and although much has been written about his famous attraction to other genders in both fiction and non-fiction, it is wonderful to read a book where Roshanak is front and centre, observing, analysing and loving. The blurb was fantastic, and it led to a brilliant first sentence to open the book (which I will not quote here because I want you all to get curious and read it)! We are delivered right into the action from page one, and there is juicy mystery, tension and longing from then on! I must comment on the lovely descriptions and flowing prose as well as the incredible characterisation of some deeply complex characters. A beautifully written and wonderfully original take on Sikander's history.

Second Place Winner

Lethal Encounter MilaForLife

This book was so much fun to read! I expected the tone to be dark because of Ava's job and her tragic history, but as soon as Jennie appears on the page it's just like a ray of sunshine transforming Ava into someone who can hope for a future beyond killing. Following Ava as she grudgingly falls in love is so sweet, and this is a must-read for Grumpy x Sunshine trope fans. If you have avoided this book because you think that the world of assassins and criminals seems too dark for you, I promise you that it is worth the wait when Jennie begins to overload Ava's world with clumsy cuteness! This book is such a joy!

Third Place Winner

Triple Point by laurendoubleu

I don't know why I'm such a fan of women in love in a police or militarised environment, but this blurb immediately made me excited, especially when the superpowered humans are the bad guys. Elsie isn't just a brainless actress damsel in distress: she's a highly complex character and we're dropped straight into the action with her. Both Elsie and Camilla have so much to unpack let alone fight the forces that are trying to harm Elsie that this book becomes more intriguing as we're led deeper into their tangled relationship. I love the idea that Camilla herself is a mystery to be uncovered too; great concepts and really worth reading if you love action and romance.
