"Enjoy your weekend. I'll see you guys on Monday." Austin says.
Everyone finishes packing up and starts to head out.
"Imma catch you." Max says as Austin starts walking over to my desk.
I nod and Max leaves.
"I wanna talk to you before you head out." Austin says.
"Okay." I say.
"You've been doing really good this week. No mishaps or accidents." Austin says.
"Yeah, I think my bad luck went away." I say.
"Well, I've been wanting to offer you a certain position for a while but your whole thing with your luck, kind of prevented me from asking you." Austin says.
"I want you to be my new Senior Editor." Austin says.
"You serious?!" I ask.
"Yes, ever since you started working here in 2018, you have put in so much effort despite all the challenges. It's about 7 dollars more an hour." Austin says.
"That sounds great but it's a lot of responsibility." I say.
"Think about it over the weekend and let me know on Monday." Austin says.
"Alright." I say.
"Have a good weekend." Austin says.
I smile and nod. He smiles and walks away.
Is this... what it's like to be.. normal?
20 minutes later...
"What're you doing here?" I ask getting out of the car.
"Uh, I'm here to see you. I don't have a key so I sat by the door." Hailee says as I walk up to the door.
I help her up off the ground and we kisses me.
"How long have you been here?" I ask, unlocking the door.
"Uh, 10 minutes." Hailee says as we walk in.
I nod and shut the door. I put my backpack down and we sit on the couch.
Simba comes down the hall and scratches my leg.
"Hey, boy." I say picking Simba up.
Simba rests his head in my lap and I pet him.
"How was work?" Hailee asks.
"Austin wants to give me a promotion, Senior Editor." I say.
"What?! That's amazing." Hailee says.
"I didn't take it." I say.
"Why not?" Hailee asks.
"It's a lot of responsibility so he said to let him know if I wanna take it on Monday." I say.
"You should take it." She says.
"You think so?" I ask.
"Yeah! The issue is that you still have this cursed mindset and it makes you think everything's gonna be 10 times harder. But even if you were still cursed, you should still take it. You deserve it." She says.
I smile and nod.
"I think I will." I say.
"Good! We should get dinner to celebrate when I come back from San Diego." She says.
"Why are you going to San Diego?" I ask.
"I'm going to record some songs at a studio." She says.
"Oh." I say.
"You should come with me for the weekend. Leave tonight so there's no traffic, and be back by Sunday night." Hailee says.
"That's very short notice." I say.
"Well, I got told about it today and I didn't wanna call you when you were at work." Hailee says.
"I'll see if my mom can watch Simba and if so, then yeah, I'll go." I say.
Hailee cheers and I smile.
Time Skip
"You'll be back Sunday night, right?" Mom asks as I hand Simba to her.
"Yep." I say.
"Okay, I hope you guys have fun." Mom says.
I smile and we hug.
"Have you noticed that the curse has been..." Mom asks.
"Yeah. I think we're good." I say.
"What did you do?" Mom asks, sternly.
"I just fell in love." I say.
Mom smiles and nods.
"You two be careful." Mom says.
"Love you." I say.
"Love you too." Mom says as I leave.
I rub Simba's head and leave. I get in the passenger seat and put my seatbelt on.
"How's your mom?" Hailee asks typing on her phone.
"Good." I say.
Hailee groans and I look over at her.
"What?" I ask.
"I can't figure out this stupid GPS." Hailee says.
I hold my hand out and Hailee hands her phone to me.
"Did you try turning airplane mode off?" I ask.
"Oh." Hailee says.
I shake my head and turn airplane mode off. I press go and the screen loads.
"Starting route to 509 Ninth Avenue." GPS says.
"This is exactly why I keep you around." Hailee says.
"Oh really? Not because I'm super pretty and really smart?" I ask.
"Those are just bonuses." She says.
I smile and she kisses me.
