*𝐁𝐄𝐍'𝐒 𝐏𝐎𝐕*
last night, we found a shelter in the mall and slept there for the night. i couldn't sleep as i was praying that issy and thomas would come back. but they never did.
i can't imagine living without issy, i've never known any different. i don't want her to be dead, but right now we didn't even know if she was dead or alive.
issy always told me that there was people who would try to take kids away from wckd and save them from whatever was happening there. i just can't remember the name.
i woke up and it was still dark. i could only imagine that it was the middle of the night. or hopefully, the sun was about to rise.
i fell back to sleep soon after and when i woke up again and the sun seemed like it had been out for hours. maybe it had. i looked around and saw that everyone was still asleep so i shook them slightly to wake them up.
millie wasn't hard to wake up, she'd wake up if you tap her on the shoulder the slightest bit. but she just woke up by herself today, which was weird, but it was probably because of the lack of comfort.
"guys, we have to get moving, now." i said, hoping that they would agree with me.
i saw everyone getting up and i think they agreed with me, or at least i hoped.
i wanted to explain where we were going and why, but none of them questioned where we were going, which was odd. i decided to say it myself just so no one had to ask questions.
"we are heading to the mountains." i said almost shouting so everyone could hear me.
there was a few nods and most of them just kept on walking. i had millie in my hand and i hoped she wasn't too overwhelmed by all of this.
i knew everyone would be in a bad mood because of losing issy and thomas, but we had to keep moving so then we could actually make it to the mountains.
"ben, what's up with everyone?" cam asked me.
"i have no idea, they just woke up like this. my guess is because of issy and thomas." i said.
"that would make sense." he replied.
we walked in silence for a while after that and the mountains just seemed to be getting further and further away. i need to make it there, to hopefully find issy there.
i know that if she was still alive, she would be heading to the mountains right now. i need to think about what she would do to lighten the mood because it always works when she is around.
the right arm. i did it! i remembered what it was called. the right arm. now it rung a bell. we just had to find any form of civilisation to ask about it and hopefully, someone would know where they are.
i'd always heard about the right arm, mostly bad things, but that was because we were at wckd and they hated the right arm. i heard that they save children from whatever wckd was doing to them and take them to a safe heaven.
god, i wish they were right. if they weren't, then i don't know what we could do now.
i heard a voice, coming from the left of me. it was newt, "why are we heading to the mountains?"
"there is people there who will help you guys get away from wckd and never have to go back. they will take you to a safe heaven and wckd has no idea where that is." i said.
"but how to you know that they are there?" he asked.
"we don't really. they could've moved their camp to somewhere else but they were spotted the day before we left somewhere in the mountains. we don't know exactly where, but it's worth a try." i said.
"alright then, to the mountains we go." he said then turned to look at me. "i really hope your right."
"me too." i said.
we were walking for a while and most people seemed like they needed a break for the night as it was getting dark, fast. i looked around the desert and saw a small shelter that seemed not too far away.
"everyone, stay there for the night." i said pointing over to the shelter.
everyone started moving in that direction and i was hoping it wasn't that far because my arm could give in at any second.
it took us around five minutes to get to the shelter from where we were walking and as soon as we got there everyone laid down on the ground and went to sleep.
i laid millie down next to me and prayed that she would get to sleep fast so that i could get to sleep. she always says that i'm not allowed to go to sleep unless she is asleep.
lucky for me, she got to sleep the second i put her down on the ground and now i could try to get some rest.
millie doesn't understand why we left or where we are going because she is too young and she doesn't need to know. mainly, i don't want her to know.
ever since millie was born, my mum never paid attention to me and issy, she was never around for us. but when millie grew up she completely ignored us all and we had to take care of ourselves.
luckily i had issy, she took care of us all. to this day, i still have no idea how she did it.
