as frypan said it i turned around to see the girl i thought i was in love with. but i couldn't think about that now. all i could think about was issy.

"what are you guys doing here?" teresa asked us.

"i could ask you the same." minho said.

teresa's eyes floated towards mine but i turned my gaze to issy.

"do you know each other?" issy asked not speaking to anyone in particular.

"yeah, she was in the maze with us." newt said.

a million questions formed in my head but i chose to ignore them.

"well we really have to get going." ben said.

everyone followed ben into the vents. i went last, after issy. i noticed there was bruises on her arms. immediately i asked what they were from.

"how did you get those bruises?"

she stopped in the vent and turned around to face me. "erm, it's a long story."

"don't worry, you can tell me." i said.

"well, you know janson." she paused as i nodded my head. "yesterday when i was with janson at lunch, he took me away to this room and was grabbing me by my arms and i guess that's how i got them." tears were forming in her eyes.

"hey, hey it's okay." i said softly whilst wiping the tears from under her eyes.

she smiled back at me and spoke again, "but it happens all the time."

at this point we were far behind from anyone else i couldn't even see them anymore. great.

she hugged me and i obviously hugged her back. i stroked her hair for a while until she pulled away.

"we should really catch up with everyone." she said.

"good idea." i said smiling.

she turned back around and started crawling. i had a smile on my face the whole way to the main vault. i really liked her.

we were crawling for a while until we caught up with everyone else. i wanted to be alone with issy, i didn't want to be with everyone.

"you alright? where have you guys been?" minho asked.

"sorry minho, i just had to tie my shoelace." she replied.

we crawled for another 5 minutes then ben stopped. he lifted up the vent door and jumped down it. we shortly followed after him.

once we'd all got down from the vent, ben handed millie over to cam and started walking off and told everyone to wait, just in case anyone was there. he poked his head around the corner and pulled it back straight away.

"shit." he said.

"what? what is it?" i asked.

he put his finger up to his mouth, "it's janson."

"fuck." issy turned to face me with a concerned look on her face.

"we've got the key card so let's just run for it." cam suggested as he passed millie back to ben.

issy reached down to her pocket and i looked down, she had a gun. "i can use this to hold them back." she said waving it around in the air.

ben covered millie's eyes as issy was waving the gun. we all nodded at each other in approval and everyone started walking to the corner.

"ready?" cam asked.

"ready." i said.

everyone ran out and janson and his men started shouting and running at us. i went at the back with issy to make sure she was okay.

she grabbed the gun and stopped in the hallway. she cocked it back and shot a bullet. god, she's beautiful. i can't help but just stare at her.

she shot some more to keep them back whilst everyone tried to get the door open. i looked back at everyone and they looked like they were struggling.

"what's happening?" i shouted.

"they must've disabled the key card!" minho shouted back.

shit, we're dead. i turned back and told issy what happened and then i heard a click and a couple of shouts.

"guys cmon!" newt shouted.

we turned around and saw the vault door open. "cmon let's go!" i said.

we started running towards the door and janson and his men started running towards us. he was speaking into his radio then the vault door started to close. he must have told someone to close the door.

"shit." i said and ran faster.

the door was inches away from closing and i told issy to slide under. we slid on the floor and made it just in time'.

janson smashed into the door looking extremely angry, "you little shit."

"piss off." issy said.

we turned around and started running following ben and cam again. we went down some stairs and saw the door to outside.

we sprinted towards it and grabbed the key card and opened it. the doors slid open and a gust of wind hit our faces.

everyone ran out and there were mountains of sand surrounding the compound. we kept climbing up the mountains and coming out of WICKED there were vehicles and that just pushed us to go faster.

we were running for a while now and teresa found this old building and ran in it.

"teresa?" newt said.

everyone ran in after her and of course i had to follow. when we got in there was a steep hill of sand and we ran down it.

once everyone was gathered again i noticed this random boy who was definitely not there before.

"who's this?" issy asked taking the words out of my mouth.

"erm, i don't really know." winston said.

"what do you mean you don't know?" i asked.

"well he opened the vault door when we couldn't get the key card to work." ben said.

issy turned to look at him, "who are you? and why would you help us?" she asked.

the random kid turned around to look at her, "i'm aris, and i overheard your plan and i wanted to help you escape because i know what WICKED does with all the people that 'leave' here."

what does he mean 'leave' here. i turned to look at issy and saw she was looking back at me confused.

"what do you mean?" cam asked.

he began to explain more, "the people that they take to a 'safe heaven' don't actually go anywhere but the compound. they stay at WICKED and get their brains tested further. it's like they go into phase two or something."

everyone was shocked at what aris had said and worried looks spread across the room. "did you know about this?" i asked issy.

"no, i had no idea. i can't believe they didn't tell me." she said and i fully believed her.
