We have our soccer game and Laura lee throws the game, distracted from the fact that almost everyone on the team is queer, leading us to lose the game.
"What the fuck Laura Lee?" Nat screams as she takes off her shirt in the locker room.
"How can I focus when everyone here is gay?" Laura lee says in a panicked voice.
"Everyone?" I smirk, "so you're gay too?"
"No, no, gosh no." She almost hyperventilates as she rejects my words. "I would never lead that type of sinful life."
We all roll our eyes at her sentence and by the time we're done changing she's silent.
We get on the plane again and it's so silent you could hear a pin drop.
I hold onto Jackie's hand and before I hear the pilot yelling, "mayday! Mayday!"
Jackie and I look into each other's eyes with a mixture of emotions: confusion, fear, and somehow love. I squeeze her hand and she squeezes mine back. I kiss her, wanting what could be our last moments alive to be meaningful and special.
She kisses me back softly. I feel our tears fall onto our lips as we kiss. We pull away and I cup her face.
"I love you" I tell her in case it's our last moments alive together.
"I love you too." She says back in a sincere voice with tears in her eyes.
The plane goes down into the ocean.
