I get my uniform packed like she said before I leave to catch up with her.
But I quickly realize that she's already on the bus.
I race to the bus and put my shit where it needs to be before sitting next to her.
"I don't want to talk to you." She tells me without even looking at me.
"Well we have to at least pretend we still wanna talk to each other so no one gets suspicious."
"Oh please everyone already knows that I'm a lesbian."
"You figured out you're a lesbian?"
"That's what Nat told me." She finally looks at me.
"That doesn't make it true though, Jackie."
"No that actually does make some type of fucking sense."
"Wait, what?" I look at her speechless, shocked she's finally coming to terms with the fact that she's not straight.
"I'm only with Jeff because he's a man and girls just feel like a better option." She pauses and places her hand over mine. "You feel like a better option."
I put my free hand over my heart. "I still love you, Jackie and not just as a friend. I love you like a lover."
She doesn't say it back.
All she does is nod, look down, and take her hand off of mine.
Leaving me to feel like a complete idiot.
