2 days go by with barely a word of what's happening. But today seems to have more of a stir, less guards surrounding us as they throw stale bread into our cells. Less guards to snark at us when they walk past.
Verian hasn't come to see me and Roy has stayed by my side. Our stomachs grumble and yearn for the taste of good food. I'm so hungry I feel sick and the thought of food is appetising yet awful.
My bones ache and strain as I stand up to stretch. I close my eyes for a moment letting myself forget where I am for a single moment.
Letting myself forget my life in all its horrors and beauties. And when I open my eyes I'm returned to the state of my living. The corner of the cell that still smells, the grime on the walls that's woven itself into my hair.
I pick up the stale bread that was earlier thrown at us. I look to Roy in silent question if he wants it and his answer is the same as yesterday- no.
From his answer I throw it at a guard when he's not looking. As soon as I do I return to looking like a sad little girl so he doesn't suspect it was me. I dig the top of my foot into the floor as my hair sways forward. It's smell hitting me like a wave.
Quickly guards start to file in, cramping up the thin walkways. The door is yanked open by a familiar guard- Milo- Roy raises to his feet joining at my side. Milo nods for us to exit the cell where he grabs both our elbows tightly. .
I feel his breath on my neck as he whispers a single word into my ear "Breath". I hadn't noticed I wasn't breathing until he said that. Milo held our elbows tightly but not painful as he walked us out of the dungeon with every single other prisoner.
What is happening?
Every cell is empty, feuding of the life of the prisoners that had formally been there. Most of the cells had been empty during training, most not all. Never all.
Up the never ending stare case into the castles deserted hallways. The last of sunlight flitters through the windows. Servants scurry through the halls closing the doors to there rooms as they walk around hurriedly. They must be afraid of us.
At least if they were wise they would.
Were taken to the massive garden Verian had once taken me too so many days ago. It's adorned with many lights, the roses still high and strong. The caged of area were taken to is small but right next to a ballroom. Its filled with people in fancy dresses and suits. Milo's hand leaves my arm letting me freely walk over to the window looking into the ballroom.
The thrum of music seeps into my soul. The wave of dresses as men swish around woman in circles, so beautiful.
I had never been able to just look over a crowd of dancing happiness. Whenever I had been to such a beautiful place I had a mission, I had to steal something, kill someone, seduce someone to gain information. Just looking over in admiration was never an option.
But my admiration can't stop my curiosity of why we were here. Why was every single prisoner brought into a larger cage outside a booming ballroom?
My eyes catch onto Verian, he's wearing an elegant black suit which outlines his sculpted muscles. His hair is tousled and well put together all at once, his smile is elegant and polite as he mingles with other people. The wine he drinks swishes in his hand, the veins of his arms following under his long sleeves. I can't help but lose myself in his looks. His eyes such a deep brown that they could pass as the night sky.
Roy's hand on my arm pulls me out of my thoughts. I look at him, my pupils large in the dark. "It's beautiful isn't it?" he ask his voice soft.
I nod a few times before answering "Yes. Beautiful indeed."
