"If that's how you treat people I assure you, your title won't stand" I keep my voice calm despite my anger. Seeing Katara almost punched to the ground was not something I expected nor wanted to see. "Do you understand General?"
"But-"
"Do. You. Understand." I say in a harsher voice.
"Yes you highness" he grumbles. I find my time wasted by talking to such an imbecile that can't even respect a life. You don't just hit someone for no reason, there must be a motive. I stride past him and pick up Katara's bedroll.
Cool wind blows through as I walk to Verian. My eyes train on a stone faced, angry Katara. A deathly calm flows around her. The eyes of a killer.
"Kat" I'm met with those deathly eyes. "Bed roll" I toss it to her and she catches it effortlessly. Which is to be expected by her. Her binds had been let go now only containing her magic.
When she starts to stride towards me Milo tries to catch her arm but she dodges him. She stopped in front of me raising her chin. "We are called Linury. Not- magical beings and certainly not dogs" before I can even answer she walks away from me and blends into the crowd of bodies.
Milo's jaw ticked as I look at him with darkening eyes. "What the fuck did you say?" I should never leave her with Milo. He's so insensitive.
"Nothing," he answered.
"Nothing my ass. Milo what did you say?!"
He levelled his stare "I told her to calm the fuck down because she was being to emotional". My fists clenched impossibly tight. My veins felt like they would burst from beneath my skin. It took everything in me not to punch Milo right there. He walked past me, brushing his shoulder past me purposefully.
I walked through the crowd of aching bodies and ignored them when someone tried to give me my meal. My appetite was long gone.
"Prince" someone called behind me, "Prince Verian" the voice panted as he stopped behind me. I reluctantly turned around to meet the face of a young boy, 16 at most. I nodded to signal for him to tell me why I had stopped walking. The young be was visibly afraid. But of course, I didn't blame him. Almost everyone thought I would be just like my father. The next tyrant to rule Zalora.
"Your father sent a letter forward with the General" the boy states. "He wants you to fall behind so you can travel with him and the rest of the army." I nod. My dismissal was evident but the boy stayed staring at me with big eyes.
Since he wouldn't be the one to leave I would. I marched away to where a few horses were kept to rest since they too had worked hard. Easily I pulled myself onto its back and rode into the opposite direction of the group of soldiers here. Father would easily be 15 kilometres down the track. It shouldn't take me too long to get to him.
The cool wind whipped around soothing my taught muscles. I ran my fingers through my hair racing down the endless rows of carriages and magical beings. My eyes snag on familiar red hair but I force myself to not mind it and to keep moving.
I'll see her in no time no doubt.
And by then, she'll no doubt have her snarky mouth back. Her comments were always unique and intriguing. And no matter how much I didn't want to admit it, she made for good entertainment.
