A/N: I am so sorry for the long break. I have been so busy. But here is a bit longer chapter for you as my apology.
Days were blurring together as I stared at the ceiling. Well maybe not days, perhaps hours, maybe weeks. I don't know anymore.
What I do know is that I can't just sit here anymore.
Any second now what appears to be a head guard comes into my cell to take my food tray which I hadn't eaten and make sure I'm alive.
I lay on my side breathing shallowly to trick that I'm not breathing at all. My eyes focus as I lay uncomfortable on my side. The wounds covering me still hurt like no tomorrow but I had been changed- by who I can't remember- but changed into new clothes. Tight black pants and shirt grip me like a second skin.
It's almost comforting. The comfortable tightness and the thought of moving swiftly without beings tugged down by flimsy fabric.
I hear the screech of the cell opening and I know my plan is about to begin. Lucky for me they gave me pain meds while I was out of it so the pain is 99 percent gone. But it still hurts if I move the wrong way.
My ears honed in on the sound of his footsteps growing closer.
His fingers grazed my shoulder as he tried to see if I was alive.
As one does I whip around and elbow him in the side of the head before he can even process what's happening. He falls on top of but I push him off me. He's gross and sweaty. Although he does look alright, quite young, can't be more than 18. Snap out of it! I silently slide the sword on his hip into the deathly grip of my hand. My hand falls to the gangling keys on his side and take them.
Stealthy I make my way to the door. I fall into the darkness as I assess my surroundings close to the bars.
Cells line both sides of the wall as far as I can see. Two guards appear to be walking up and down the line of them continuously. Two walk towards me as I shrink to the other side of the cell not able to see them anymore.
If they keep the same pace they'll reach my cell in 3...2...1... they walk past me without a notice.
They look into my cell, eyes widening but before they can make a peep I pop up behind them and hit them with the blunt of my sword knocking both men unconscious.
I drag their bodies into my cell dumping it with the other. One of the guards had a black bandana on his head so I snatch it off. I tight it around the lower half of my face like a mask. I pull my hair through and hone in on my focus.
In training we always wore a mask to cover our identity, but for me it switched on my focus. The man with the bandana has a dagger sheathed. My favourite weapon.
I would have liked him if I didn't have to get rid of him. I take the sheath off of him with the dagger and put it on my own hip. It sits comfortably there almost like it was made to be there.
I slip out of the cell and make my way the way the soldiers were walking. They must have come from that way. And, there appears to be more light that way. In my focus I ignore the withering souls in the cells. My people and strangers alike, trapped in cells.
Another group of soldiers come down like clockwork as I make it to a set of stairs. I press my back to the wall beside it.
These fools seem to be a bit better trained because the notice me almost instantly. I cover my hand over the closests mouth and use my free hand to slit his through letting him fall to the side. As I pounce at the remaining soldiers he tries to stab me.
But as one does I dodge with ease and kick him in the nuts. He falls forward with a groan as I hit the side of his head with my elbow.
I tested out the stairs seeing if they creak but I soon realised they were stone stairs. Good for me really. I stay against the wall as I make my way up with light feet.
