"What I want is for the Zuo family to submit to me, not the emperor." Zuo Qianchen was astonished. "What's the difference?" he asked in confusion, finding Chao Huang's words confusing.

"The emperor's position has been desecrated. It's just a pawn now," Chao Huang explained. Zuo Qianchen felt that the reputation he had cultivated as a talented individual had become a mockery. While he could engage in extensive intellectual discourse with courtiers, he couldn't understand Chao Huang's current statements.

"You don't need to know too much about it, it's a woman's battlefield," Chao Huang replied with a sly smile. She was well aware of Zuo Qianchen's pride and his belief that he could stand shoulder to shoulder with women. However, Chao Huang didn't believe in his confidence. If Zhao Yang hadn't come into the picture, she might have entertained the idea of playing around with Zuo Qianchen, and maybe even been seduced by him in the end. After all, he was hers. However, since the arrival of Zhao Yang, who was so extraordinary, Chao Huang had no interest in dealing with anyone else.

Zuo Qianchen was somewhat embarrassed, and his expression showed the conflict between his surprise and a palpable chill.

"Give this to your father. Make sure it gets directly into his hands. Otherwise, it could be troublesome for both of us if the cat is let out of the bag," Chao Huang handed Zuo Qianchen a letter in a small, delicate envelope that could easily slip into his pocket.

Zuo Qianchen took the envelope, tucked it away, and stood up hastily when Chao Huang told him to leave. His knees felt unsteady and he almost stumbled. Instinctively glancing at Chao Huang, he noticed that she had already removed her shoes and climbed into bed, drawing the curtains and making it impossible to see inside.

Scowling, he turned and left.

As he walked out, a palpable aura of coldness emanated from Zuo Qianchen, and his eyes were filled with anger. Normally, he would at least nod to the people around the empress, but now he didn't even glance at anyone as he walked away with fierce determination.

His actions were deliberate; he was no fool and knew exactly what he was doing. Soon, from the moment Zuo Qianchen entered Chao Huang's bedroom to his departure, every change in his expression was reported to Chao Yun.

Lin Gonggong massaged Chao Yun's shoulders and said, "I heard that the Prime Minister gave Mei Guijun a letter, and after reading it, Mei Guijun became quite irritated.

"The Prime Minister is level-headed, but her son is too spoiled," Chao Yun commented with his eyes closed, expressing his satisfaction. He complimented Lin Gonggong and said, "You serve me with the utmost dedication.

Lin Gonggong smiled tenderly. "It's my duty."

The incident was brushed aside, and Chao Yun, confident that it wouldn't amount to much, didn't dwell on it. Lin Gonggong also refrained from adding anything further and attended attentively to Chao Yun's needs.

Formally roping in the Prime Minister.
Knowing the relationship between the Prime Minister and Zhao Yang, Chao Huang understood that the Prime Minister was her safest bet for support. Chao Huang asked the Prime Minister to recommend people who might be loyal to her. She didn't put all her hopes in the hands of the Prime Minister, as she had also expanded her influence outside with the help of the hidden guards. She had also planted her people in the Prime Minister's circles, and even though the Prime Minister knew that these people were her own, she couldn't refuse them.

Chao Yun had given the Imposter Empress considerable authority, not only because she trusted her loyalty, but also because of her own intentions. As she watched the Imposter Empress manage the affairs of the court and issue orders with a carefree attitude, she felt a sense of satisfaction. "This is the Cloud Qi you're supposed to protect, and I'm definitely defiling it."
